That idiotic! :(
It appears to be liberals wanting to make it easy for BG's to know what houses have guns to steal, so later they can use it as an excuse to limit gun sales to law abiding citizens.
It is like they didn't even care to understand the concern when that guy wrote them that letter!!!
Keep 'em locked up real good fellas.

they tried that here in Indiana. The databasewassupposed to be kept totally outof publciviews for allccw permitholders but somehow one of the big news papers in Indy got ahold of the data base and published alot of names justto prove a point.Talkabout an uproar, wow and it was stopped immediately by the legislature.
If u are a CCW holder, it is not even on ur drivers license or on any BMV vehicle check. Some people think an officer sho dknow by the BMVcheckif u have a permit or not but IJO that is irrelevantto the actual stopthe officer made.If I'm speeding give me a ticket, but to seeI have a permit and maybe this officer has a ***** on for gun carrying people does not to me spell a good verbal chat coming up either. If u feelthe need to divulge u arecarrying and have a permit thatis ur call. One does not need to evendevulgee he is carrying in Indiana even. Don't ask don't tell works for me in this scenario. Just sayin

Several years ago Texas passed a law that restricts CHL database info to law enforcement only.

The interesting part is NOW she has to go to the county she is going to be living in and switch her CHL.

Here is Freedom Outpost's writeup, summarizing actions being taken by the Grass Roots North Carolina oganization to apply pressure to the station to remove the search engine.

Please, everyone!
You can help by signing this online petition. Before you say that "it's meaningless", you need to understand that our state senators get emailed every time someone signs the petition.

I would be petitioning the legislature directly to change the empowering legislation that allows this at all. The FOIA will trump just about anything so it will take some work to accomplish.
Depending upon how it is written into the law it may not be easily amendable and require a complete rewrite. Hoepfully not but without being able to read the law it is difficult to see what is the most appropriate remedy.

I actually need to correct my prior rant/statement. In Virginia, it wasn't a judge, it was the legislature. I went back and looked up the story. Basically, the newspaper backed down on their own, after a local resident (who was hiding from a domestic abuse situation and had a CCW) went ballistic w/ the media on the issue. But, it put the issue on the front burner and the legislature shut it down this past February, exempting CCW permit holder information from FOIA. So, it's not impossible.
Sorry for the misinformation in my earlier post, knee-jerk reaction and felt the correction should be made.

I received this in email. "It covers the counties around Raleigh (for now.)"
Not knowing someone in that area that has a CCW, I have no way to check, maybe someone will can.

A little over a year ago, A liberal rag newspaper in Des Moines, Iowa printed a complete list of CCW permit holders in that county...IN THE FLIPPING NEWS PAPER. Yea...hows about that???
"(WIREUPDATE.com) — A list of nearly 5,200 names of gun permit owners in Des Moines, Iowa was published on Thursday in the Des Moines CityView paper, sparking privacy concerns among the residents. In the article titled “Who’s Packing” the names of those who filed for a gun permit under the new Iowa gun law are listed in alphabetical order.
“With nearly 5,200 applications to carry already this year, it’s safe to say that plenty of people, including your neighbors and friends, are now “packing heat.” Cityview author Jared Crutis wrote before naming all the residents."

It would behoove all of us to check the underlying legislation in our own state to see if this release under the FOIA is allowed. In my state the media has tried and has been rebuffed since the underlying legislation does not specifically allow data this to be released.

Liberals are like muslims. As their percentage of the population grows, their behavior grows exponentially worse. Look at Europe.

What needed to happen next? About 3000 of of those folks to show up at his office in mass, just to shake his hand and make sure they had him eyeballed and marked (as the guy not to help if being mugged...). He did say that everyone should get to know these "packers" should he not be the first in that line of such nice people?

Oregon just fought this battle in the last legislative session, and fortunately the right to privacy for CHL holders was upheld. One of the newspapers in Oregon led the fight to publish CHL lists. We even had some democrats vote for the gun owners for a change.

In many states broad demographic data cannot be withheld from release. Such as number of males, number of females, racial breakdown and other blind demographic data.

NOPE, it does not only cover the Raleigh area. Raleigh is an hour or more North of Raleigh. It covers more than just the Raleigh area.
