View Full Version : Politics: a Reminder

Gang,

Just a reminder that our policy on political posts is that they must be either RKBA related, or about anti-gun politicians. I feel that the later are fair game on any issue as their failure to support the Second Amendment is typically just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their lack of respect for the Constitution. Other political posts do not belong on the forum. The topics may be interesting, but it does not help the atmosphere here to have constant bickering. There are other places online for such discussion.

Thank you!

John

Thank you, John.

I am an independent constitutional conservative who is involved in both Texas and national politics up to my eyeballs.

Occasionally, I am tempted - and once or twice - succumbed to posting a reply to a political posting on KahrTalk. I wish I hadn't done so.

Politics can easily become all-consuming and, at times, it has for me. I need time away from dealing with it.

I wholeheartedly support your position regarding politics on KahrTalk.

John, I respect you and understand your position. However:
I do not believe a 'Political Post' thread is appropriate at all on a manufacturer's sponsored site. It becomes divisive amonge the members and may put you on the wrong end with some of your customers, which may cost you sales in the long run.

When the bad guy approaches me he is not interested in which political party I belong to. Be liberal or conservative, I believe Kahr (as a manufacturer) should stay on the low down.

For myself; I no longer visit quite a few gun sites because of the ignorance and hate that spews from political discussions and views.

Kahr's position as a manufacturer should be: No politics, no religion. Let's just be friends discussing the things that interest us the most: really cool firearms.

Kahr owns this website?

I'll let JohnH address. I don't believe Kahr owns it but they do endorse and support it.

With regards to politics we agreed for a long time that politics and religion, more politics than religion didn't belong here, just too volatile. But now days it's hard to mention the word gun, firearm or cauliflower without politics being involved. Thank you so much 47%ers.

The thought was to try and contain it so folks that didn't want to deal with it would have the option of not going there. That's of course near impossible too.

We do try to keep it involving gun related politics but some of the stuff they are pulling back there needs to be shouted to the world. PC is what is killing our country plain and simple.

I don't like politics here myself but as mentioned it's damn hard to keep it out.

This is America and we believe in Freedom. If you don't want to participate in FREE speech, then you can go somewhere else. We try to keep it civil here and encourage discussions... friendly ones. Some push the "envelope" but most of us try to keep it clean here and act as adults.

This is the friendliest, most helpful site I've experienced and we get along well. Trainer, you just got here and if you don't like it, there are plenty of sites that prohibit everything and even want you to THINK "clean" thoughts. They have monitors ready to pounce if you disparage their particular brand of "toys", too. You have plenty of other choices for chat rooms.

When the politics threads get ugly or disrespectful the thread is shut down.

If I remember right political discussion was limited until after the president won re-election and he started his gun ban efforts after the Newtown tragedy.

When that started, discussion of our many freedoms that are now in jeopardy was permitted in the political section of the forum that was created. Those that prefer not to see those threads can set up their profile so that they don't show up.

Well, it appears Kahr has taken a political stand with their new facility in Pennsylvania - as has Beretta, Remington, MagPul, Barrett, and a few other manufacturers moving to friendlier states. ;)

But I agree that over the top invective has no place in the political debates.

Trouble is, who determines what is "over the top", "hate", etc.?

I'm sure - I'm listed as inactive with the Georgia Bar Association.

Nope, I no longer own two "Vettes". I sold the red 08 and bought a yellow SSR. I do still have the silver 10 Corvette though. The SSR is a retractable hardtop, convertible pickup truck, sorta of, with a Corvette LS2 engine. How cool is that? They're rather rare and I had to go to a Cadillac dealer in northern Virginia to find a yellow 05.

Like I said, they're becoming rare - collectors are buying them. I've only seen one on the street in the last two or three years. They're a blast to drive if you don't mind being noticed and make all the right "Corvette" noises, but are too heavy to accelerate or handle like a Vette.

O'dell, I went thru the MUSCLE CARS MUSEUM in Punta Gorda, florida. over 200 GM muscle cars. what an exhibit, all cars in mint condition. I did not realize that back when (can't remember the years) thata vet could be orudered with knock off wheels for 320$. unbelievable

Dang, Jocko. You're really trying to catch up on the chat here. This thread is over 2 years old.

I went back to the first post to see what was going on. I like the yaller car. I bought a 1972 Pymouth Duster in 1972 when I graduated from USM. It was a POS... had some kind of electrical problem that would shut it down, but once in a while, it would run pretty good with the 340 engine. I ordered it with everything that I wanted that was available... no 4-speed though, dang it, only a 3.

I'm glad you're back. I hope you had SOME fun down here.

:)

I forgot to say, I ordered the Custer in Lemon Twist Yellow... about the same color as Odele's car.

Hell, I can remember when a gallon of gas was $.25 cents and when cigarettes were $.23 cents a pack. At his age Jocko should be in that museum. :)

I worked at a gas station when regular was 28 and High Test was 32 cents and people would peel out all pissed off cause the prices were so high.

Like to see that again.

I was managing a gas station when I was 18 yrs. old. People used to skip in line, and I would have to tell them that they had to go to the back of the line, and they were taking a chance on getting shot. I was shot at twice. Gas was 23 nine, and we had lines a quarter mile long. People would bring their boats full of gas cans to fill up.

Must have been during the so called gas shortage, all the rationing and stuff.

Once the price hit a buck suddenly there was all kinds of gas. Go figure.

we sold Mobil gas for over 70 years, and I can remember back "when" Mobil would call us and say, gas was going up 2 cents next week and we thought the world was gonna end with that increase. Nopw the stations in Terre Haute, take 3 5-50 cents jumps pretty often, seems like every Thursday they go uo (all of them) 25 cents ad then two days later drop back 20 cents. course I can remember when we sold cigs for 29 cents and a full carton for 2.75$ nd thought back then people were nuts paying that. Co8rse we also sold Goodyear tires for over 70 years and back 50+ years uwerelucky if you got 10K mle son a set of tires and 10K miles on a set of plugs. Very common toda to get 50K miles on tires and never having tochange plugs PERIOD. Just sayin

Well today I had the dent doctor come to my home to see if he could taqke a big dent out of my Haely Gas tank thatwas vandalized down in Naples, Fl. and I didn't know it until I got home ad started to detail it. No luck, .The fella trold me up front that mychances were slim andnone as the tanks are so strong that any times it just pulls the paint off. Yup it sure, did. so I am out 2500$ for a newScreamin eagle tank for my streetglide. FOKK

Man that really sucks Obama that your bike got messed up....would a custom auto body shop be able to patch it up and re paint it for you rather than drop the big bucks for a new tank? just askin

Their plan worked. Condition the sheeple to accept insane prices for fuel they can't live without. They'll get used to it.

I remember a year ago costing me sometimes 130 or 140 bucks to fill my van, a few times in the last several months I filled it for less than 30. You feel blessed but your still paying 130 to 150 a gallon.

Same applies to new cars, had a salesman tell me I should buy a new car more often, the sticker shock wouldn't be so bad.
Told him if I ever bought a new car I won't live long enough to pay the stupid thing off.
Just look for the union label ya know?

I'd love to find the perpetrator or perpetrators that damaged your bike Jocko. I'd dry their hides on your garage door and make an example out of them. I got a low tolerance for malicious mischief that accomplishes nothing but anguish for the victim.
