I recently purchased a used P45, which I really like. My question is about the slide stop. If I hold the slide stop lever in one hand, I can twist the round post which actually goes through the frame and barrel. I can see it rotating where it attaches to the lever. On most 1911 slide stops this would not be possible, is this OK on a Kahr P series, or does it need to be replaced? Thanks.
Its normal, although some fit tighter than others.
If you look very closely under the lever part, at the place where the pin fits, you'll see a tiny cross pin there, or maybe just the outline of one. Look close. Magnifier helps.
The machined and/or investment cast, and/or metal injection molded lever part is mated to a hardened pin via a cross pin. I'm going to assume (without knowing for sure) that the hard pin has a step in it for depth, and a groove to accept the cross pin. The pin is very hard, tough, to take the beating it gets from the barrel whackin' it during firing.

it is perfect. some do some don't It is a two peace slide stop and that pin is held in the slide stop lever by another pin that if u look real close on the bottom of the slide stop lever u might see that tiny hole even where the keeper pin goes into. It is nice when it rotates IMO as now the only thing that moves up is the lever itself so the follower IMO works less as hard doing it job. BUT if u have one that doesn't fear not, it is also perfect to. . So don't be sending one back because it does or doesn't spin. My one pM9 rotates and my other PM9 does not, bith work perfect Kahr does such a nice job of polising the slide stop lever that one can't even see that small ass pin hole.
