I was looking at a used E9 today and have two questions. On the left side of the frame, just below the slide lock lever there was a slot head screw similar to a pan head type screw. The bottom of the screw head was against the frame, with the head of the screw therefore protruding about an 1/8" above the frame. The slide had a notch for the slide lock lever to engage. It did not have the rounded 2nd notch for slide lever removal seen on my P45 and most 1911s. The paperwork included with the gun was a K9 manual with a E9 update sheet. Neither showed the screw in the parts pictures.
Question #1 - What does that screw do?
Question #2 - How do you remove the slide lock lever?
Thank you for your help.

Looking at my E9 bought new in 2004. Has an unthreaded hole beneath the slide lock lever. Never been a screw in there. My K9 doesn't have a hole in that location.
The relief cut on the slide aligns with the slide lock pin which is then tapped out from the opposite side. I use a plastic hammer to pop it. The E9 and K9 are disassembled the same way.

Good question, I've always wondered about the screw myself. Here's what it looks like.

Probably the right way to learn the truth of why the E9 has the screw and why another E9 has the hole and no screw is to call kahr and talk to a service tech, . I wouldbe intereste dto know it's use .

that E9 is not a good gun for we know it is but there has been alot of changes in the E9 to the now K9, so IMO, I would pass on it, and keep looking for a nice used K9.
Parts availability might be scarce for theE9 if needed

Thanks Ripley16, that photo shows exactly what I'm asking about, and makes it clear to anybody else who's interested.

Thank Scrambler. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when i walk into the gun store with my hammer and ask to see the E9 again! But you really did answer my question about the disassembly notch.

That looks weird for the Kahr's I'm used to seeing. I wonder if some genius put it there as a slide lock over-travel stop to keep it from going too far down for some dumb reason.
