Joined to use the search and only found one thread that did not answer the question clearly, which is:
What are ALL of the differences between the PM9 and CM9 that justify the 200-300 dollar difference? Looking at replacing a S&W 642 with one of these for EDC.
Thanks in advance for any help

Welcome, I'll give it a try...
-PM has a polygonal barrel; CM has standard barrel. Polygonal barrels supposedly last longer and promotes accuracy and increased velocity.
-PM comes with 2 mags; CM comes with 1.
-PM has more machining on slide than CM. (appearance? & lighter).
-PM slide release is machined; CM's is MIM.
-PM front sight is dovetailed installed for more aftermarket options; CM is
pinned in...harder to change...rear sights are the same.
I may have missed a thing or 2...but you can't go wrong either way depending on your use and budget.
I love my CM9...its not a range toy for me but IS an easy shooter and I hear there's really no difference in accuracy, recoil etc.

Serious though that is one cool chart! Nice job, as usual great people on here!

Awesome replies and thanks a lot for the chart! It seems the MAIN thing then is the barrel rifling. I own a P7 and various Glocks with the polygonal rifling, but does this REALLY justify the $$$.
Where I am, the PM9 has a $799 tag and the CM9 is "on sale" for $449 - a MAJOR difference
BTW, the big box store (which shall remain unnamed -G.M.) had folks who could not tell me the differences either
(of course internet outlets like Buds are nicer on the pricing)

GO FOR THE CM! The extra money can be used for goodies and or ammo! I havent had a single problem with my cm in over 1500 rounds so far, and dont regret getting it over the pm at all!

IMO, unless you are going to use the pistol for competition shooting, go with the CM9. I did, and I have never even thought about looking back.

One more thing is the option for a all black pistol with the PM9. If you like that option, you may look for a used PM9. Short barrel semi auto's are not for everybody and those who do not like them tend to sell them quickly so there are a fair number out there. There is one in the for sale section of this forum right now.
Good luck and stay with us on this forum. Great place to ask questions and get a "fair and balanced" answer.
BTW, Keep your 642 if you can. The S&W will carry better in a pocket than the PM/CM9

otta be ableto buy a pM9 for $600. but the best buy is the cm9. Internalsw are basicaly identical. both will shoot um better than thge shootger can, unless u have the hots for the black dlc finish and factory installed nite sights, , yup, go for the cm9. A super gun, IMO nothing in its league, except another kahr.

I went with the PM9, why? Because the CM9 is not California legal. Otherwise I would have a CM9. Saying that - I love my PM9. Great gun.

a wise and good choice, under the circumstances..

I would buy the P or PM models because I want the QUALITY things included. I bought my DLC PM9 with NS LNIB for under $600 out the door at a local gun show.
I looked at the CW/CM 9mm models lately, thinking of one for my wife, and I can't get past the looks of the slide where the model and manufacturer labels are uneven... seemingly hand-hammered with a die by a different person for each letter or number. That and the plastic non-dove-tailed front sight... and only 1 magazine. There are other differences and some complain about the other less costly components used to make the "economy" versions.
If you can be happy with the lesser features... great, BUT, buy a couple more magazines, though. Having only the one is really going to put you in a bind sooner than later. Magazines fail or break! "Driving without a spare" is beyond CHEAP! It's very risky when you consider the consequences in self defense.
The CM/CW models aren't for everyone and you should consider the differences well before buying the cheaper ones to save money... then having buyer's remorse. Most buyers have been happy with them if they didn't have too much trouble with malfunctions.
JMHO! :behindsofa:
