I found my pup Porky dead in the ditch. Little escape artist got away again. Some jerkwad must have been speeding like hell down the road from the various car parts scattered. What's this got to do with guns, glad I didn't see it and have one one me.

I'm so sorry to hear that.
Loss of our four-legged family members is always very heartbreaking.

Sorry, I feel for you. I, for one, am glad you did not see it and have your gun with you. Hard to type from jail. Take a breath, get another if you see fit. Please post pics if you do.

My condolences on your loss. I've lost a few to old age in my lifetime and I know how painful that is.

Best thing to do when you lose a dog is to get another one ASAP. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm really sorry Tom. Porky was a cute lil guy... (apparently sneaky too since this isnt the first time he escaped) I really wanted to see what he was gonna look like all grown up. Hopefully the cat will keep your spirits up for a while until you can decide on another friend or not. I know its hard to lose a loved one, but keep your chin up and we're all glad you werent there to witness it (for your sake and ours.... we might miss ya around here :) )

Sorry about that, Tom. There are always lots of dogs available for adoption at the animal shelter, so go choose another one and make a good life for him! :)

So sorry to hear about your loss. Lost mine 8 months ago to old age, still miss her very much. I do understand about the gun. Just try to remember the good times and it will take some time to get over it. Time heals all wounds. Once again, sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm not the kind that can just go get another one, I feel like I need to give Porky his due and grieve a bit for him, and then decide on what type of dog I'll get. I wouldn't mind rescuing a dog from the pound, they often have a few I wouldn't mind owning. I have too many other things going on right now to get a new pet, so it will be at a little while before I decide what to do.
I feel like life has kicked my butt pretty good for the last few weeks, everything I touched has turned to crap it seems, and that was almost too much to bear, but things will hopefully get better soon, and I'll want another canine companion. The stress has been so bad I had to get Nitro pills from the doc to ease my chest pains that have become more frequent lately, and I go in for a complete work up on the 14th. Hopefully getting my son married off on Saturday will turn things around some and life will get back to normal. Although I'm a bit worried about what they will find on the 14th. Today was another stellar day, I tripped while carrying in some sound equipment for the wedding and almost broke my wrist.

That sucks man but what exactly were you planning to do with the gun if you had of seen it and you had a gun on you?

I don't really know. And don't wanna find out. Probably would have confronted the driver for sure, gave him hell for speeding down the road, and who knows where it would have went from there. BUT.......
I have to take full responsibility, it was my backyard he got out of, or else he'd still be here. I doubt that I'd seen it happen, as If I were there to see it, Porky wouldn't have been in the street and would have been put back in the yard. I just have to accept it was my fault entirely. I should have noticed he was loose and didn't. Knowing I caused his death has been hard to accept, I've been working on it and praying for the strength to accept it. It will come, and then I can start to work on finding another dog, but not until I've accepted my responsibility for Porky's death. I so bad want to be able to blame someone else, and have to work through that.
