Yeah, We don't have to wonder where ol Crockett stands on the 2A...
We do have some very Liberal Dems down here. They have choughed up millions to Obama's campain. He knows he won't carry the state at election and our Gov Perry and Obama are best discribed as "Fire & Gas-o-line".
Texans as a group, do not like the Washington tone... The "cause we say-so" and "whatever scares us, you can't do...".
They sit in their homes way up in Virgina and Maryland 1500 miles from the border and tell us how we are suppose to feel about the immigration issues. As a citizen Texan, I listen to the Rio Grand ranchers and farmers with great alarm. I understand the thought process that if Washington won't help Americans with such dangerous issues then we as a state must do it ourselves, as best we can. If some deep feeling Democrate in New York wants to shake his finger at us and call us names...
Well I can live with that...
...and the majority of my fellow Texans can too!
I have many issues with the DC crowd beyond this single example. I do not wish to break away and we all support the USA. I know we pray for our DC leadership every Sunday, right before we pass the offering plate.
God bless-um

My #2 son lived in Dallas for two years. When I visited him everyone that I met made me feel welcome. If I could figure out how to relocate Lake Erie I'd move there in a heartbeat.

Texas has many lakes that although not as big as Erie are far more beautiful.

Do any of your Texas lakes hold walleye or steelhead trout? Do you ever lose sight of the shoreline? Have you ever seen 30 foot waves on a Texas lake? I rest my case.

My dad was stationed at K.I.Sawyer AFB in the U.P. from 71 to 75. I did love all the lakes and have gone swimming in the great lakes. Burrrrr... even in July.
But we were always Texans and as soon as I could, I came home.

I personally live living in Texas. The question you have to ask here is who doesn't have a gun. Heck..Governor Perry runs with a gun and is a well known fact that he has a CHL. He has been known to kill a coyote at least once and I think it was Colt that made a special addition gun just for that occasion....

Texas lakes also were/are not polluted with industrial waste. Your case needs a rest. If you want to see a Truly Great Lake all you need do is cast your eye over Lake Superior.

I remember when this came out, they took a lot of heat from the scumbag lamestream media with their usual "racist" charge. Think that terrorist group cair had them in their crosshairs over it at the time. I notice the coward leftists who've been calling and threatening the small business who owners who BUILT THEIR OWN BUSINESSES don't pull this crap with Conservatives armed and ready to pound them.

Lake Erie produces more fish annually than the other four Great Lakes combined. The western basin of Lake Erie is the walleye capital of the world. The Bass Islands were named for the abundance of small mouth bass. Superior is superior in size only. :)

Perry was my first choice for president. Straight forward and the most conservative of the candidates.

The best fishing I ever did was on a lake in the upper peninsula. Norther Pike and Walleye, now those fish put up a fight. Caught alot of bass there too. Down here the reservoirs are nice but they face alot of fishing pressure. I'm simply not a good enough fisherman to be successful here.
I remember fighting a pike at the Greenwood (?) reservoir back in the early 70's. Me and that fish fought it out for over an hour before I landed him. The lake had a slot rule at the time and no amount of streaching could make him the 1/4in longer he had to be to keep him. I had a freind who was learnind taxadermy back then and I was ready to mount that fish... Hope he lived a long life.
You can lose sight of the shore on Lake Buchanan (hour and a half west of Austin), but that said, its no lake Erie... Lots of cactus growing along the lake shore too.
No Ice fishing here though, ever.

I like Governor Perry, especially his stance on gun controll, but he definitely lacks on education for Texasans. But that is another story.
He was way out of his league in his bid for President. He looked like a dumb ass in his debates and frankly made Texas look bad. I'd be surprised if he gets elected Governor again!

I think that he is a great guy and governor, but he was definitely out of his league and comfort zone trying for the POTUS. Of course, look at what we got and HIS qualifications! The left and their lapdog media made much ado over Governor Palin not being "qualified" for the job... as if Obama had ANYTHING AT ALL in the way of "qualifications"! He hadn't been in the Senate that long and was a DO-NOTHING, non-voting, most Liberal member of that group, with NO accomplishments at all.
We really dodged a bullet with GW for 8 years and certainly he was the man in the right place for 9/11. What would Lardass Gore or "War Hero" Kerry have done. Kerry should have been in prison for REAL treason with his support of the North Vietnamese in the Paris Peace Talks while still a member of the US Navy! It's nice to have friends in high places or the RIGHT places and get troublesome things like your military records or academic records and associations covered up... especially with the Liberal Media not "investigating" or vetting their favorites. You really ought to watch the movie "Media Malpractice". I watched it online free with my Amazon Prime. You can see how Obama "fell into" the presidency... really!

The best Texas "lake" is the Gulf of Mexico -- and yes, it does get 30 foot waves on occasion. Probably as often as the great lakes do. There wouldn't be any walleye or steelhead trout in the Gulf of Mexico, but there's plenty of other great sport fish.

That was one thing I missed in San Antonio... too far from the large body of water, though the Gulf is not my favorite. There's quite a bit of mayhem there with the oil-industry based disasters... refinery fire/explosions and so forth... and then there's the weather... hurricane central!
Having lived on the warm, shallow part of the Gulf in my youth... near Tampa and St. Pete, I wanted to be near the Ocean and get a boat. Been there, done that, now. OMC's Ficht-injected engines "sunk" my boat and after the second engine blew up, I decided to sell the danged thing. Now I want something to tool around out in the water I see from my house... Mill Cove and the St. Johns River. I wouldn't mind a square back canoe with a small motor large enough to get on plane with two people onboard. Wifey getting laid off doesn't help that prospect.

ABSOLUTELY the truth. Many Conservative friends in the know say he was way too green and had no business even being in the same room as the other candidates.
Many Texas Republicans were not very pleased with him overall but on certain narrowly defined areas he was at best an OK Governor. But the WH was WAY OVER his head.

Think it was already said, but that little lake down by Houston seems to have some islands in it as big as Lake Erie. Some people even call them countries. Ask a Galveston resident about waves sometime. But fresh water? Nah, got us beat.

The Lake never caught fire. The Cuyahoga River burned twice. It used to have an oil slick on it. Fortunately, we had more than enough water to put the fire out.

We selected Ted Cruz as our Senatorial candidate last night.
MAJOR wakeup call to the bidness-as-usual boys on both sides of the aisle.
Although if he's elected it won't alter the balance of the Senate since he'd be replacing KBH, you can rest assured he'll do everything in his power to keep one more lib justice off the Supreme Court.
And that is our most significant, single liability.
Heller was 5-4.

Yep. I cast my vote for Ted Cruz. Didn't have much choice, actually. My sister said she'd shoot me with her CM9 if I didn't - and, hoo boy, can that girl shoot! It sure is a good thing I was going to vote for him anyway. The popular saying is "Don't mess with Texas." It should be "Don't never, ever mess with a Texas girl."
Doc540, you must be from the Dallas area. They're the only ones I've ever heard say 'bidness'. It's kind of peculiar, though, because in Central Texas no one says 'bidness', but pretty much everyone says 'dudn't' instead of doesn't. Go figure...

I'm as conservative as they come, and IMO Perry is a crooked SOB who has catered to his corrupt cronies from day one. I can hardly wait until he is replaced by a decent conservative who has the well being of this Great State as their priority rather than enriching his/her friends.
If the Texas democrats could find another Bob Bullock to run against Perry, then I would actually consider voting for the challenger.

It just seem that the longer I live in this once great land of milk and honey the more I am aligned with the Old South. I sincerley hope that my gut feelings and observations are wrong, but the possiblility of civil insurection may not be so far fetched. Why else are the DC elites so adament on disarming the peoplethe UN Universal Gun grab, up arming the police and Homeland Secuirty, now the TSA secuirty over reach with public transportation check points, with local police getting military grade equipment and up armored vehicals and the like, just gives me the creeps. Not to mention presidential decree's for declaring martial law....????? Come on poeple even a blind man can see this and link the dots.
We need to do some serious house cleaning in DC and fast before we all go to hell in a hand basket.
Sorry for the rant I do apologize for that, however our 2nd ammendment rights is our only garrantor of all of our other beloved rights.
As was once said by one of our founding fathers "When the Government fears the people there is liberty and when the people fear the government there is tyranny"
