:D New CM9 just came in today. $380+tax. Already cleaned, lubed and did the mag "fix". 100 degrees outside so maybe next week for breakin. Three more mags and Handall Jr to be delivered this PM so I've got the weekend to do the mag "fix" on them if needed and do some slide snapping. Barrel has rifling too:p. CW9 in June and CM9 in July. Think I'll take August off from gun buying!:2rolleyes: Shootin' Report to come!

All four mags had significant "drag" of followers by the mag release? Fixed that per the "sticky" instructions on prepping/lubing. Might not have made any difference since I haven't shot it yet but wonder how may folks have feeding "issues" caused by this?

That price is too close to a brand new one with the factory warranty. I'd go for the new one. Palmetto State Armory does free shipping and has some great prices at times. Cheaper Than Dirt will do short lived sale prices that you have to jump on when you see them.

I bought my CM9 in February, took it home and stripped/cleaned, took to the range and shot it. The next week I bought another mag at a gun show, took the CM9 to the range and shot it. Then, I shot it again the next week. What's with the idea that you need to "fix" something that most likely ain't broke to begin with?

just asking

You're probably right. I read a bunch on the forum before I bought CW9 and Jocko's sticky on prepping new Kahr under Kahr-Tech mentioned failures to feed sometimes caused by mag followers dragging on the mag release. It covered how to test for this and the fix was just filing/sanding a little on the follower where it came in contact with mag release. Several of my CW9 mags had the drag so I followed the instructions here and she's been flawless so far. Ain't shot the CM9 yet. May have not made any difference?:o

Well I don't know if all weekend to prep gun and mags helped any? Don't think it hurt. I know you folks get tired of boring range reports on the CM9 so please forgive. Only shot 100rds WWB and 2 mags of Black Hills 115EXP( got hot quick this am:mad:) but 2 handed, one handed, left handed, 7 rd mags for CW9, it was perfect. When I shot the first mag, I knew I was in love:w00t:. It put 5 of the EXPs in almost one hole before I got cocky and blew the last two rds:o. Beyond 7 or 10 yds I don't shoot much of a group offhand with any handgun but I do have kinda of a test I try with all new handguns and that's check for "paper plate" accuracy at 25 yds. Only tried it one time but little booger went 6 for 6. I got some bigger, more expensive guns I can barely do that with so I was very impressed! After around 12000rds thru KT guns, it didn't seem an easy gun to limpwrist especially when shooting one handed/left handed (where limpwristing really shows up for me).

Next cooler day is gonna be JHP and chronograph day. I hope it likes DPX. In meantime, she's loaded with the BH EXP load and ready to go!

Thanks again for all the help this forum provides to us Kahr newbies!

Note to self- if you ever piss off forestranger stay at least 75 yards away and bob and weave.

I'd call that very acceptable shooting. I'd be proud of that on my best day and those don't come often for me.

Well done.

Good Shootin. I'm glad it has worked well for you.

Know what? I get just about as big a kick out of someone else's shooting as I do mine. I guess that's why I like taking the family and making sure they have fun too even if i just make sure everyone is safe.

Thanks, All my family is grown and gone and I've outlived many of my old shooting buddies. My dog don't wanna go shootin so just me most times. Tomorrow, hopefully, is gonna be second range trip with chronograph and bunch of JHPs. DPX, 124+P GD, 124+P GS and the Black Hills 115 EXP will get the most workout.

Forestranger,

Looking forward to your range report with that ammo. By the way, I noticed you'll be using Black Hills - they also have a load with the Barnes bullet in 115gr. Ammo to go sells it for ~$52 / 50, which is lots cheaper than CorBon's DPX. Just my .02 . Have fun tomorrow.

Yea, I started to get some of that ammo but read several reviews that it was not seated as deep as Corbon's load and just because your gun fed Corbon, it might not feed the Black Hills load? May have to try some if my $26/box of DPX source drys up?

Another 100rds WWB and at least one mag of following ammo. Box of DPX shot and half a 50rd box of 124 Gold Dot +p shot. All together well over 100 various JHPs. ..................Temp=90+F

Corbon 115+P DPX..........1180fps/357fpe
Rem 124+P Golden Saber..1085fps/323fpe
Speer 124+P GD..............1122fps/348fpe
Black Hills 115 EXP...........1089fps/304fpe ( disappointed)
Speer 115 GD..................1082fps/301fpe
Win 115 SXZ...................1094fps/307fpe (Bass Pro version of SilverTip/WWB)
Fed 115 JHP(Classic)........1019fps/267fpe

I didn't shoot any further than 7 yds and all seem to be close to same accuracy. No 147s tested since I didn't have any due to several other 9mms that don't like 147s. Recoil on DPX was not bad and felt similar to WWB. No problem with fast followup shots. The 124+P Gold Dot had the most recoil/muzzle blast to me of loads tested but still not that bad.( I had to move chronograph a few feet further due to muzzle blast affecting readings.) I thought the Black Hills load would be faster based on results in CW9 but I have learned crazy velocity variations between different guns is not uncommon (i.e. DPX out of same box only averaged 19 fps slower in CM9 than CW9 but the difference was 99 fps with EXP, again same box?)
Guess which one is gonna be in my CM9?

Thanks for the excellent information. I'm trying to decide between a CM9 and CM40. Leaning toward the CM9. About 10% lighter and just a little thinner. I'll use +P 9mm if I go with the CM9

Have you weighed your CM9 loaded with 6 +1 rounds? From what I've read it should be around 18oz while the CM40 would be around 20oz.

Not a big difference, but I'm looking to replace my LCP on bicycle rides with my CCW riding in my jersey pocket in the center of my back.

Today I weighed out 6oz and 2oz of coins in two small plastic bags and added them to my carry pocket with my LCP to get an idea what the CM9 (LCP +6oz) and CM40 (LCP +6oz +2oz). I could tell the difference between the two even though it was only 2oz. Enough to pick the CM9 over the CM40?.......maybe.

I get right at 18 1/2 oz with 7 DPX on my ancient kitchen scales which is one oz. more than the PF9 w/8rds (not DPX but 115 gr.) that I pocket carried for years. The one oz. isn't noticeable to me.

Great chronograph info. thanks. I've been looking for some posted velocities on various loads from the CM9. The DPX and Gold Dot look awfully good. Currently carry Golden Sabers in my CM9. Corbon and Speer ammo are hard to find locally for me, unfortunately.

Yea, most of the gun shops around here want around $40/box for DPX and $30+/box for GD load, both 20rd boxes. Bought most of my GD cache at gun shows for $20/50rd box and DPX online for $25-27/box. My LGS where I bought my Kahrs ordered 100rds DPX for me at $26/box couple weeks ago. Ammunition To Go And SGAmmo usually have fair prices on 50rd GD ammo.
