View Full Version : WTF is with the Che Guevara caps?
I really don't care much for the opening or closing "ceremonies" of the Olympics.
But, I watched (some) of it last nite.
The whole thing was rather... absurdly leftist if you ask me. Strangely so.
And then - in the midst of athletes prancing out on the arena, the USofA comes out. Strange outfits (but not as strange as the blue boots on Denmark).
I'm thinking.... whats with those hats. Militaristic? Perhaps. Then it hit me - Che Guevara had damn near the same thing, complete with emblem in the same location.
WTF is with THAT?
Got some pics...
Back in China, our team wore cabbie hats, aka golf caps, aka "Andy Cap" hats, Irish caps... whatever ya wanna call 'em.

This time round, Che Guevara. The "promo shot" shows them puffed up. What kind of twink wears 'em like that? When you do, its called an "apple cap"... when the team marched out, they were flattened, normal style.

Well, you have NBC telecasting it and commenting on it, so what do you expect?
You know, as I was watching last night, seeing the uncontainable joy of all of those young athletes and the recognition of all nations from the smallest to the largest, I continue to wonder why Eric Rudolph set off a bomb at the 1996 Olympics? I can understand (certainly not justify) his motives for bombing the abortion clinic and the lesbian bar. But, the Olympics??? Did he see it as just another act of sinful man? Like when all mankind were together as one and began building the Tower of Babel?

Since they don't have American football or auto racing, my only question is "WHEN WILL IT BE OVER"?
Rudolph was a sick man, overcome by the sickness of evil within his heart.
Richard Jewel was a hero, in every sense of the word, overcome by an abundance of goodness in his heart.
And thats that!

But they still had Che hats on last nite, and I see now the press is also reporting a "leftist agenda" on the opening ceremonies. How sad it is that the Olympics are so commercial, with professionals replacing amateurs in so many events. How sadder it is that the countries, our own included, make "country" so important, and use the athletes pawns in the game of political "superiority".

Well you could go back to ancient times when the men wrestled nude! ooooh-gah!
In which Olympic sport does a player compete with balls that measure 11-3/4 inches diameter?
Sumo wrestling!

I flipped over to the opening ceremonies once I realized they were own. I flipped back to whatever I was watching after about 15 seconds.
I wish I had that 15 seconds back.

Did they really do that? Aw, never mind, I'll ask Jocko, he was probably there.
I watched it. I didn't see anything leftist about it. Especially nothing "absurdly leftist". What are you talking about?

Talking about how wonderful their socialized heathcare is, when in fact there are huge waiting lists and denial of care, and it is bankrupting them.

I lost all interest in the Olympics when they first allowed professionals to participate. The games are supposed to be for amateur athletes. Then there's the issue of drugs and sex changes. I'm a conservative. Give me a break.

To a great deal I agree, however not all Olympic sports have professional corrolaries that can be drawn from.

Depends what you call a professional athelete, I would say most are professionals, most do not have a full time job, many are paid for apearences and endorsements. I dont have a problem with that, just calling it as I see it.
