It may seem like I've got a lot of time on my hands, but I ran across a few thing while looking at the calendar on the window bar above. I noticed 100 Birthdays and after looking through the year, 282 birthdays!
The two days:
01-01-2012 shows 282 birthdays with nearly all age 32 on that day. The approximate day of conception was 04-01-1980, if I figured that correctly. What the heck went on around that time??
First thing to pop up: : http://www.historyorb.com/date/1980/april/1
and for March/April 1980: http://www.historyorb.com/events/date/1980?p=2
And then 10-08-2012 shows 100 birthdays and nearly all 27! Again, the approximate date of conception is 01-08-1985:
Today in History for 8th January 1985 | HistoryOrb.com (http://www.historyorb.com/date/1985/january/8)
and for January 1985: http://www.hisdates.com/years/1985-historical-events.html
I just thought this was really interesting that we have so many members who share those particular birth dates!
Thoughts? Clean ones!

I don't believe all the 1/1 birthdays easy answer for the profile imo
The 10/8' , ok.

Well, I followed your links for the two dates and didn't recognize any of the five "famous people" who had birthdays on those dates. Maybe if they had listed some forum members, I would have had better luck.

One of the "conception days" was around New Years, but I was just wondering what caused such a high incidence of birthdays on those two days. I thought 100 birthdays was a lot, but 282 was a real shock! The really wild thing is that most of the births were on or about the same day, as nearly all were the same age on the two birthdays. Coincidence? <weird music... Twilight Zone>
100Birthdays: http://kahrtalk.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2012-10-8&c=1 ALL 100 are age 27!
282Birthdays: http://kahrtalk.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2012-1-1&c=1 3 are 35 and one is 27, but ALL of the rest are 32!!
There are too many recurring numbers and similar names. There's some kind of BS going on there. Is this an AlQua'ida cell rendezvous spot or something???

I've checked half a dozen or so and none has posted anything and the earliest was November last year. Something's fishy!
What's up JohnH??

I'm gonna bet it's a bot. There are automated programs that roam the net looking for insecure forums and websites to hack. They can be programmed to sign up and attempt to hack into the back end system to play havoc.
Apparently this one sets 01/01/1980 as it's b-day.
Another forum I frequent has a must post within 3 days of joining policy. If you don't prove you're a human, you're deleted. Might be worth looking into for this place.

I left a note with johnh. I hope it's not something that has been causing us grief on the forum... or going to!

Garbage like that has the potential to cause issues. The more access these jerks get the more damage they can potentially cause.
Just looked and there are 5232 members with 0 posts. Granted, many might be lurkers or whatever, but I am sure there are some mischief makers in that group.
It might bruise the "look how many members we have" crowd but it'll be a lot more secure deleting people who don't even introduce themselves.

I noticed that on those days with xxxBirthdays that many have the same "age" and that was what got me to look into why. That 282BD deal had too many with similar "names" and numbers sequences... with the same "age". A lot of those names "look" middle-eastern... hmmm.

Wow, I lurked for a year after signing up. Actually I didn't even lurk, I signed up by invitation and then forgot about it since I didn't know what a forum was.
Thought only kings and stuff had forums. Then I found out that's called a Harem, not a forum, so I looked up my password on my secret notebook and looked to see what it was.
I was kind of timid and shy and afraid, guess I still am but I became slightly more active.

on forums I have admin rights on we have a strict policy that no account is activated, i.e. the "member" can't use the forum for private messaging, etc., until the new member has made at least one coherent post. Any new member with a zero post count for more than a week or so should be flushed from the system immediately.
Good catch Wyn

I'm no expert in these matters, but I'd say that a whole lot of love making happened on those days. Just sayin.

Slightly more active? That's tantamount to being a little pregnant. Prolific is more like it. :)

The post in 3 days or be deleted policy isn't designed to boot lurkers or timid members. It's strictly to get rid of the bots that try to get on here.
It's not a big deal to insist as part of your membership that you introduce yourself and be done with it. Even if that person never makes another post, there was a human on the other end at least once.
These things also have the means to harvest email addresses and all sorts of information from these forums. Who knows? could even be DOJ Bots for all we know, keeping an eye on the "gun nuts"
Paranoid? Damned right I am.

A couple of automatically generated email messages could be sent to remind them that they need to post. And if the email doesn't go through, nix them.

Maybe it's a DHS plot to make this forum look like a terrorist hookup site or something!
