New member here, first post. Looks like a great resource for Kahr owners here. This is my 3rd Kahr. I started off with a P9 that I traded in a fit of "need that other thing now". Came back to the fold with a PM9 for summer carry in Florida. But I always wanted the original K9, they've just been scarce and/or too expensive. When I found the NYPD trade-ins I decided now was the time. I chose one off Gunbroker and it cost me $421 after all was said & done.

I just finished a detail strip & clean of the top half including new striker & recoil springs, and a halfway cleanup on the lower half. I have 2 questions I hope you all can help me with:

First, the ejector is able to move up and down a little bit, and on reassembly can hang up on the underside of the slide. No big deal, just press down and she goes. It also appears there is no where for the part to move during cycling. Is this a normal condition?

Second, during dry firing (have not live fired it yet), with the trigger pulled firmly back, the disconnector is very stiff, making it significantly more difficult to rack the slide. If I loosen up a bit on the trigger, it is easier to rack the slide. Do you have any suggestions? Neither the P9 nor the PM9 have done this. I will spend more time looking it over later to see if I can identify the problem.

Thank you!
Dave

The ejector little bit of movement is normal and nothing to worry about. I'm not certain on your disconnector question. I'm assuming your racking the slide with the trigger pulled to simulate trigger reset?

Welcome to the forum, there's some great help here when / if you need it.

On my new mk9 I could not even rack the slide with the trigger pulled. 1st time back to Kahr they replaced the trigger bar problem not fixed. 2nd time back replaced cocking cam. Seemed to fix the problem but now 7 months later its going back on Monday because the striker assembly is broken or stuck and it won't fire. May you not have the same problem. Your slide is hard to pull because the striker block cam goes up too high against the block and puts pressure on the slide. Let the trigger out a little less pressure.

Bawanna, yes simulating reset when I noticed the condition. thanks for the welcome!

Kerby, are you saying the cockin cam is pressing up too much on the firing pin block? When I let off pressure on the trigger, the slide is much easier to rack, but I wonder if it will be a problem during live fire. This gun is not one of the pristine trade in guns, it saw carry and plenty of live fire.

My mk9 still fired but the whole action was too different from my mk40 includind harder and more noticeable trigger and break. Kahr fixed it so it would rack with the trigger pulled but now this happened. If you take the grips off you will see when you firmly pull the trigger and then ease up what goes on. Not saying what happened to mine will happen to yours. I don't know if the two are related. I will post results when I find out what happened from Kahr.

Thank you, I'm interested to see what your results are. The risks of an inexpensive used gun are repairs and possibly a trip to the factory. I'll follow your suggestion to observe the relationship of the parts. Luckily parts are inexpensive, and I know my way around file and ceramic stones.
