Hey there I recently purchased a CW9 for my ccw, I have done the pre-prep and used the lube diagram that this forum offers. I have not been able to break in the fire are due to my local range closing for A/C repairs. So there has been a lot of dry firing.

My questions are:

1. What night sight options are there other than the ones Kahr offers on it's site?

2. What are the pro's-con's of using just a front night sight on a Kahr?

3. This is more in line with the first question, but is there an offering of tritium sights in the same combat sight style the gun comes stock with.

4. Anything else you guys might want to add is welcomed

Thanks

I have meprolights on all my carry pistols, and have been very happy with them.

I sent my slide into Kahr and let them install them.

Hi Mogwai and welcome to Kahr talk...I will try and answer your questions and I'm sure others will chime in as well...I'm not sure what pistol you have...The PM series have 3 dot sights and the CM/CW's use a single white line on the rear and a dot on the front that you dot the I with...

The Kahr night sights are three dot style and are Meprolights I think...If you decide to get them just mail the slide to Kahr and let them do the install as they can be a bugger to get on/off without the proper sight pusher...Trijicon also offers night sights for Kahr pistols so check out their web site for prices...I have had Trijicon install night sights on several pistols and they are nice folks and the turn around was quick...

If you have a CM/CW and want just the front night sight they are very easy to install...You just carefully break off the original plastic one and the new one comes with a screw that you install with some loctite...I think just using a front night sight is a fine idea and will save you some bucks...In a combat situation in the dark you only need to be able to find the front sight and in reality you will most likely tunnel vision on the bad guy and not your gun sights so all you need to do is put the sight on center mass and fire...

These are not target pistols even though they can be very accurate in a good shooters hand but having a glowing dot out front would be a big help if forced to shoot in the dark...The only problem IMHO with them is that they don't show up as well as a painted dot in the daylight...Good luck with your new pistol and you will hear it a lot around here...SHOOT IT LIKE YA STOLE IT!!!

Besides Trijicon, Meprolight, Novak and XS available from Kahr...Dawson Precision makes Kahr sights; Heinie used to make Kahr sights but have discontinued due to low volume and are hard to find these days. Should be a few more, those are just the two I am aware of.

I can't add anything of value to your #2 or #3.
Dawson's CW/CM style sights are the only other option (besides the Trijicons that Kahr offers) for the CW9 that does not involve milling the slide.

texiandave,
Welcome to the forums!

I've got the Trijicon [from Kahr] front sight only on my CW9 and it works well. That's all you need for self defense distances.

I love the XS Big Dots, have them on many of my guns.
