Thanks Jfootin for the reminder.

For new folks, stuff that doesn't fit else where usually fits just fine here.

Keep it fun, keep it family/gender appropriate, semi civil.

Leave politics, and all that depressing stuff at the door.

Remember anything unsuitable can and will be removed without warning or fanfare.

Let the games begin.

dangit, B, I just knew you would wait until sometime tomorrow (my birthday) to start August. So, now we have to skip my birthday....again. That's o.k., I don't mind staying 39 for yet another year:D

Only one month til DOVE SEASON:):):):)

Au Contraire Weedhopper. I did it today so as not to take away from the full day of festivities tomorrow.

Let me be the first to wish you the happiest birthday you ever had.

I'd sing for ya but truth be told that would totally suck.

I'd be honored to send ya half gallon but I'll have to hunt around some. Never heard of Chimay Grande Reserve. Hope you got a cellar to acquire the proper temp, can't send one of those.

It's after Midnight here, so Happy Birthday Mr. Surveyor. Even though I don't drink, I'd be happy to buy you a bottle of a good brew. Never heard of that Grand Chiminey stuff, but, sounds expensive, how about a pint of St. Pauli Girl, at least
it has a nice label to look at. :)

Hey Surv! You must have some political pull!

We used to drink Chimay (but not necessarily Grand Reserve) with friends in the Philadelphia area where we could order it at our favorite restaurant on Dock Street. Sadly, it has been a while since we have hoisted a glass. Chimay does not seem to be as readily available at dinner in "small town" Tucson.

Given your reputation for liking cheap Tequila, I'm surprised the Trappist Monks let any of it go to Texas.

Hey Tuscon

don't forget I'm a home brewer, so I've studied a bit pertaining to the various styles of bier. We can't order CGR here in small town East Texas at the dinner table, but we can get it from a couple of local area "stores".... or special request for the next week. CGR is just my choice for special occassions, which are rare. I do love my (or most anyone else's) IPA's, Porters and Weizens though. Since I had to give up the fairly large block of time it takes to brew an all grain ale (been 3-4 years now), I tend to settle for much larger quantities of nasty beer substitute such as "budmillercoors". Real bier (beer) is almost impossible to find, or afford in "summer demand" quantities. Most micro's are very good quality, but I can brew them, or close enough, for about 45% the shelf price.

Beer makes the world go round.... cheap tequila makes your head spin in the opposite direction.... thus a gyroscopic balance of nature. It fits in nicely with Cliff Claven's Buffalo Theory.

Ah yes, the buffalo theory.

Cliff Clavin,of Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the BuffaloTheory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went: "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
> WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not

Happy birthday, surv! :) You can just tell people that you're 30-something. Just don't tell them you are 30-10, or 30-11, etc, as the b'days roll around. Just stick to 30-something. (Now, you'll have to change that to 40-something when you reach 50!)

Had a good birthday..... nothing broke that needed to be fixed, nobody got sick or died to worry about, still had to work... just a normal day, but one without incidents (which is very unusual here) Since the 31st was "run-off election day here in Texas, my best birthday present was the fact that my 3 main candidates won. Mrs surv and I had been pretty heavily involved with the race for our State Rep, and that win just flat made my day. Also had a bit of good luck in finding some .38 spl brass. Son is taking Thursday off work for his birthday, so I may just take some time off myself and do a bit of reloading and maybe a range trip:D

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."

Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.

This ends today's lesson

Good one Tinman.
I get a "newsletter" with my water bill each month. Last year at some point we recived one I did not read and the wife saved it for me. In the first months issue it talked about what we could all do to save water. We could let the grass die, wash bigger loads of laundry (Pink undies and sox!) and take shorter showers with the one you love...
The next one I had to read was about recycling. In that it told me what to recycle and how to prepair these objects for the recycle bin. It recomended I wash out the jugs and trays from the food products before tossing them (and I do).
Sooooo...to reveiw, take short showers, turn off the water while you brush your teeth, buy a water saving toilet and remember to wash my trash before I toss it.

Who writes this stuff and does the author of May's newsletter ever talk to the guy writing June's???

I still remember my Ex proudly telling me how she sold her food stamps

Why get food for yourself and three young children when you get party on the Government!!!

John, our anniversary is Sep 3 and we wish we had chosen another day, like mid October. Being a holiday, we don't go anywhere because of the crowds and prices are still summer peak. Mid Oct it's not crowded and seasonal rates have dropped. Something to consider when picking wedding dates.

Closing the Chic Fil A post was rather rude and abrupt, but rules are rules. If the originator of the Chic Fil A post had simply stated that he carried his PM9 to the Chic Fil A protest the post would have pertained to guns giving Bawanna an out. Let's keep that in mind for future posts. By the way melissa5, I support traditional marriage as well as concealed carry. (See, it's easy.) :)

Truth be told I closed that thread not because it lacked anything pertaining to guns (there is life other than guns, just not much life) but because my spidy senses detected that there was nowhere for it to go but ugly. A little mud was beginning to be slung and more to come.
While I try never to close a thread because I don't agree with the opinions stated, I don't need to let any ugliness get any momentum.

I guess I really don't need an out so to speak, at least that's what my handlers tell me but I do try to exercise restraint as much as I can. If I listened to all the recommendations that I receive a dozen people a day would be banned. Who wants that? ya know. Be kind of lonely round here.

From my youth I was conditioned (as many of us were, at least in my generation) to what was right or wrong, decent or indecent, morally correct if you will. Now days there seems to be a tendency to make things that are inconvenient but still wrong right just for convenience and to me that's wrong in itself.

Anyhow that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I don't blame you one bit for closing it down Bawanna and I'm sorry it got ugly so fast and that wasn't my intention when I started it but it felt good to get it off my chest cause the whole thing made me mad...

I suppose this quote from a great John Wayne movie "The Alamo" says how I feel better than i can write...

John Wayne as Davy Crockett: "It was like I was empty, well, I'm not empty anymore...That's what's important, to feel useful in this old world, to hit a lick against what's wrong for what's right even though you get walloped for saying it...Now I may sound like a Bible beater yelling up a revival at a river crossing camp meeting, but that don't change the truth none....There's right and there's wrong...You got to do one or the other...You do the one and you're living....You do the other and you may be walking around, but you're dead as a beaver hat"...

Always wanted to use that quote for something and it seemed to fit here pretty good...I would like to appologize to anyone that found my Chick-fil-a post offensive as I didn't mean for that to happen at all...Tomorrow there is to be a gay kiss in protest at all the chick-fil-a stores and I'm positive their restaurant employees will treat each and every gay customer with the respect they deserve while serving up their orders of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever tasted...

Peace to all...

Bawanna

That's a classic line from John Wayne alright and describes exactly how I feel quite frequently myself and my goal in life from here forth is to find an appropriate place to utilize it just as you've done. I'm gonna write it down so I don't forget it none.

I had no issue at all with your thread. Maybe I'm too quick from time to time but I'm sensitive to ugly. In fact just last night the whole deal was on our news report so I'm not near as dumb as I was yesterday, still pretty dumb but a little less.

Again it was the direction the thread was traveling, that's all. While I'm sure I'm missing a great chicken sandwich I'm kind of glad we don't have them around here, might accidentally drive by during the kiss thing and it might just set me off.

I always say that rules are meant to be used as general guidelines but should in no way be considered the law and should not keep someone from using the brain they were given to find a better way or progress forward, or to correct the rule that was made by someone not as knowledgable in the subject to which the rule applies as I am.

Funny... People have also been told not to always do what I suggest either. Hmmmm

A farmer had five female pigs. Times were hard, so he decided to take them to the county fair and sell them. At the fair, he met another Farmer who owned five male pigs. After talking a bit, they decided to mate the pigs and split everything 50/50.
The farmers lived sixty miles apart. So they agreed to drive thirty miles each, find a field in which to let the pigs mate.
The first morning, the farmer with the female pigs got up at 5 A.M., loaded the pigs into the family station wagon, (which was the only vehicle he had) and drove the thirty miles.
While the pigs were mating, he asked the other farmer, "How will I know if they are pregnant?" The other farmer replied, "If they ' re lying in
the grass tomorrow morning, they ' re pregnant. If they ' re in the mud, they ' re not."
The next morning the pigs were rolling in the mud. So he hosed them off, loaded them into the family Station wagon again and proceeded to try again. This continued each morning for more than a week and both farmers were worn out.
The next morning he was too tired to get out of bed.. He called to his wife, "Honey, please look outside and tell me whether the pigs are in the mud or in the grass."

"Neither," yelled his wife, "they ' re in the station wagon and one of them is honking the horn".

This is from another forum (shotgunworld), but I thought it very funny.

A gun is a gun. How it came to live with me is not important. What is important is you take care of it. Besides, the top 10 reasons a gun is better than the woman that gave it to you....

#10 You can trade an old 44 for a new 22 and even get money back!

#9 You can keep one gun at home and have another for when you're on the
road.

#8 If you admire a friend's gun and tell him so, he will probably
let you try it out a few times.

#7 Your primary gun doesn't mind if you keep another gun for a backup.

#6 Your gun will stay with you even if you run out of ammo.

#5 A gun doesn't take up a lot of closet space.

#4 Guns function normally every day of the month.

#3 A gun doesn't ask , "Do these new grips make me look fat?"

#2 A gun doesn't mind if you go to sleep after you use it.

#1 YOU CAN BUY A SILENCER FOR A GUN

:)

You can find it partially down the page here: http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=299492

I'll confess, You all know I've been pretty lonely lately! I
ended up with an older woman at a bar last night. She looked pretty good
for 60 plus. In fact, she wasn't too bad at all, and I found myself
thinking she probably had a really hot daughter. We drank a couple of
beers, and she asked if I'd ever had a Sportsman's Double? 'What's that?
I asked. 'It's a mother and daughter threesome,' she said. As my mind
began to embrace the idea, and I wondered what her daughter might look
like, I said, 'No, I haven't.' We drank a bit more, then she said with a
wink, 'tonight's your lucky night'. We went back to her place. We walked
in. She put on the hall light and shouted upstairs: 'Mom...you still
awake?' :w00t:

Very nice looking rig. I must admit that the technology improvements and changes have left me in the dark ages from when I was a bow hunter. Wood riser, I did have energy cams, I see now they usually just have one round and one egg shaped.
The sights the weight, the whole deal is in the space age these day.
I had a small compact Martin Bobcat which was real handy hunting and it adjusted up to 75 pounds back when I was man enough to pull it.
Later when my neck and upper back started having fits I had to dial it down to 55 or 60 but it still worked fine.

Haven't pulled on a bow string in many years. My son bought one a few years ago, not sure what brand, looks similar to your new setup. He shoots it well.

One of my most puffed up days was getting a mountain goat with that Martin. Like a 12 day chase before the ambush presented itself. Great fun, saw them alot, getting close enough to pet was a real challenge.

Those were the days.

Now me, I'd try walkin in the woods with that and scare away all the critters cussin as I try to untangle it from the brush.

Your right Bawanna there is nothing like getting in close when hunting big game. By the way that Rytara is made by Martin as well, one of my early bows was a Martin Warthog. Hi Lincoln, The bow is not as big as it looks, it weighs 4lbs and is 34 inches axle to axle.

I looked at the Warthog when I bought my Bobcat. So long ago I don't recall why I chose that. It was compact and simple.

That Rytara is really light, much lighter than it looks and at 34" it's pretty handy sized too.

Glad Martin is still around anyhow. When my son showed interest I got out the Bobcat and neglected to tighten the limbs enough. I wanted to shoot it first and it was ugly. All heck broke lose, pulley's and cables and stuff flew everywhere. Maybe I'll send it back and see if they can restore it.

Meet Rojo (spanish for red, except I pronounce it with the J sound not the H as it should be). Someone had adopted him once but brought him back cause he didn't get along with their cats. He does ok with my cats, they just bat at him and he takes off running. LOL It was half price weekend at the pound, so I got him for half price. That was nice.

I'm kinda weird in that respect, I like old stuff and old ways. For example, when I build my next muzzle loader, it will be a flintlock. I've always said it is better to learn the hard way of doing things first, then when comfortable with that, switch over to the power tools. I will teach my daughter in this way too.
My wife really wouldn't care if I came home with a bow instead of a gun, she'd say it's cheaper, and as long as we have the money to play with would be ok with it.

I had a blue heeler for about 15 years. Got her as a fresh weened pup and we raised her like our "first born". Strange coloration...she was dang near silver body, black ears/feet and snow white tail. She "helped" me work cows for a few years when I was managing a college demonstration farm, but normally she ended up visiting "the pen". No words could express how we felt when she had to be put down. It was 15 years before I could accept another dog to fill her place. My dobie, Guinness, is close but she ain't no "BooBoo".

There ain't nothing like the bond between a man and his heeler.

Oh he made me mad this morning, was a beatiful rainy cool morning, and I had him on a tie, with the patio door open so he could come in and out, and the damn fool comes INSIDE to pee and poop. I imagine his time in lockup kind of screwed up his housebreaking, cause they can't go outside and have to use the floor. I just hope he catches on quicker than Porky did. Guess I'll have to keep him on a leash and watch his every move for a couple weeks when he's in the house. I had to crate him while I went for an appt. today, so he's back out on his tie up so he can stretch his legs. I'm not sure where Porky was getting out, so gonna have him on a tie up until I can figure that out. Gonna wait until about an hour and half after his dinner and bring him back in on a leash and see if we can watch a movie or something.

Finally got around to going fishing this morning, but after a while I ran
out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth snake with a frog in his mouth, and frogs are good bass bait. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth; I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. His eyes rolled back and he went limp. I released him into the lake without incident and carried on my fishing with the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot. There was that same cottonmouth snake with two frogs in his mouth.

True story. I walked down thru the woods to the creek one day as a youth, stepped on some flat rock outcroppings to the middle of the small creek and looked downstream. About 10 yards away was a cottonmouth raised up on alert, looking angrily at me! It immediately charged at me as fast as it could! I spun around and ran all the way home (about 1/4 mile)! Certain times of the year, cottonmouths act plum crazy! :w00t: I remember reading or hearing news many years ago about a young man who decided to take a swim in a mountain lake near here and got swarmed by dozens of cottonmouths. He died, of course.

Pa. road crew paints yellow line over dead raccoon

This photo provided by Sean McAfee from Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, shows a dead raccoon that McAfee saw with the road dividing line painted over it before he stopped his motorcycle to take the picture on Franklin Rd. in Johnstown, Pa. According to PennDOT traffic engineer John Ambrosini, paint crews know to avoid such animals and usually have a foreman on the job to clear any dead animals off the road before the paint-spraying truck equipment passes by. This crew didn't have a foreman that day, and the equipment was too big to turn around in traffic on the curvy, narrow road so the line could be repainted without the carcass in the way. I'm a bit disappointed right now. I've heard for many years how good the old movie "Seven Samurai" is and I finally watched it. I swear I could almost see Yul Brenner in it speaking Japanese. The later move "Magnificent Seven" was so close the screen play must have been a walk in the park. But the movie didn't live up to all the hype I read so the disappointment

Oh, well, "Das Boot" is set up top record soon. I've seen it once and liked it. Also set up a Spencer/Tracy movie. See the trend? I think it's a good thing to go back to the old days now and then as we enter the all timer years. Here's looking at you kid.....

I watched it again in recent years and was disappointed, too. I have a bunch of the old Samurai movies... most that I haven't seen, yet. I can remember back when I got to Abilene, Texas, in the mid-70's and was watching the Japanese movies... there was some kind of Japanese Art Film deal going on or something on PBS. Anyhow, lot's of movies by Akira Kurosawa. Toshiro Mifune was my favorite actor.

I think there was some Western influence shown in some, too, especially the scene where two of the main characters squared off at about 6 feet or so with sheathed katanas... then there was a blur and the winner is seen slowly sheathing his his sword... the other guy is frozen... trembling... with sword extended toward the "hero". Then he kind of falls apart and to the ground... Quick Draw!

I always wanted one of those katanas, but based on my .22 fast draw results, it's a good thing I didn't have a long sharp sword to wave and slash about... I would definitely have injured myself!

Buffalo theory. Alcohol is good!!!
One night at Cheers, Cliff Clavin explained the "Buffalo Theory" to his
buddy, Norm. "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this. A herd of buffalo can
only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it
is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This
natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed
and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the
weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as
fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know,
kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain
cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker
brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine ! That's
why you always feel smarter after a few beers............

Farmer's Daughters Dates

There was this farmer that was really protective of his three daughters. In fact, he always met their boyfriends at the door with a shotgun.

At 5:30 Friday night, there was a knock at the door. The farmer answered it with his gun. The guy at the door said, "Hello, my name is Eddie, I'm here for Bettie, we're going for spaghetti. Is she ready?".

The farmer paused, then said "Ok, she's ready" .

Another half hour passed and there was another knock. The farmer answered it with his gun again. The guy at the door said" Hello, my name is Joe, I'm here for Flo, we're going to the show. She ready to go?".

The farmer paused again and said "yeah, she's ready".

A half hour later, there was another knock. The farmer went to the door with his shotgun. The guy at the door said "Hello, my name is Chuck..... " and the farmer shot him.

It's funny when Southerners talk real fast. You only get parts of words. Such as the man who speaks on TV ads for Johnson City Honda. It comes out in less than a second as "JoCiHonda", and you can barely hear the "da".

I am a southerner and was born and raised in WNC. When young, I watched a kids program on Saturday mornings from a TV station in Greenvile, SC. They always had an audience of kids from the area. The southern accent seems to be very enhanced in children. I noticed the tendency to add a 'y' and a vowel in the middle of many syllables, making two syllables, and replacing 'e's with 'a's. Quite amuzing! :D Example:
Host: "Where are you from, little boy?"
Boy: "Grayunvayul." (Greenville) (4 syllables!)
Host: "And where are you from, little girl?"
Boy: "Cayowpayuns." (Cowpens, SC)
LOL! :)

"Sturm Ruger (RGR (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=rgr)) and Smith & Wesson (SWHC (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=swhc)) were downgraded by KeyBanc Capital Markets, which said a recent surge in gun sales isn't sustainable and their shares are overvalued. The bank cut Smith & Wesson to hold from buy and reduced Sturm Ruger to underweight from hold. S&W fell 11.9% to 8.60, and Ruger slid 5.6% to 45.39."

So here is a stock analyst who seems anti gun enough to sport this, but is "shooters mindset" ignorant enough to whip himself up a real quandry. If slashing the ratings on two GUN business BECAUSE they have too many orders, is an attempt to attack the american gun industry AND if his ratings gambit works, as a bit part to re-elect the current Washington gaurd, then sales for these two american companies will skyrocket by December making him... well... wrong, causing his clients to lose big $$. Just seems odd to me. I make a living in an industry where our stock price and Wall street rating are hyper dependent on having an impressive order backlog. Seems kind of crazy to me to ding a company(s) for having too many sales pending.
Just something I found funny about this. Maybe its just me... or maybe he just knows the good guys will win the (election) day, fer-sure.

I got tired of being between holes on my belt, where one hole is too tight and the next one is too loose. My middle aged spread expands and contracts frequently, compounding the problem. So I decided to shop for a hole punch. I found this HD Hole Punch (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110885249670&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160) at eBay.
http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee486/John_England/Misc/HolePunch.jpg
I like it. Real heavy duty compared to the typical offerings. Great price and free shipping. It takes me quite a few minutes to get a hole punched clean through my 1/4" thick belt, but it gets the job done. Now I have that 1/2" increment where I need it! :cheer2:

I watched Worlds Fastest Indian last night, happened to stumble on it right as it was starting. Always loved that movie.

I been to the Salt Flats 3 times, first time back in 73 with my auto shop instructor as a crew man. What a wonderful place and anything cool that can be done to a car or a bike you'll see there.

Lots of neat stuff. I'd like to go again one day.

Speaking of bucket list, I have to share my pride. We had SWAT training last Thursday and I saw some pictures of a pretty young gal up there shooting with them so I asked where she was from as we have a multi agency team.

Come to find out she was the girlfriend of a guy that went thru our citizens academy a few years ago. She has stage 4 lung cancer, 1 to 6 months to live, 21 years old. Never shot a gun before in her life.
Usually there is no deviation with SWAT training, they have a plan, no function checking of weapons or goofing around.
They had the boyfriend bring her up without her knowledge as a surprise.

They let her shoot the full gamut, handguns, shotguns, full auto M4's, the full meal deal. I'll not share pictures but she was all smiles. It was high 90's that day and she was right out there having a ball.

I wish I'd known about it as I would have went up and watched. I told them that anything else I or we as a dept could do to make her days enjoyable we would do. The boyfriend came in and got a disc with all the pictures on it.

I was proud of the guys for doing that. Kind of a terribly sad deal to get this at such a young age.

Dump the male flight Attendants. No one wanted them in the first place.
Replace all the female flight attendants with good-looking strippers!
What the hell!!
They don't even serve food anymore, so what's the loss?
The strippers would at least triple the alcohol sales and get a "party atmosphere" going in the cabin.
And, of course, every businessman in this country would start flying again, hoping to see naked women.
Because of the tips, female flight attendants wouldn't need a salary, thus saving even more money.
Muslims would be afraid to get on the planes for fear of seeing naked women. Hijackings would come to a screeching halt, and the airline industry would see record revenues.
This is definitely a win- win situation if we handle it right -- a golden opportunity to turn a liability into an asset.
Why didn't Bush or Obama think of this?
Why do I still have to do everything myself?

Sincerely,

Bill Clinton

Rich Millionaire
A rich millionaire decides to throw a massive party for his 50th birthday, so during this party he grabs the microphone and he announces to his guests that down in the garden of his mansion he has a swimming pool with two alligators in it. 'I will give anything they desire of mine, to the man who swims across that pool.' So the party continues with no events in the pool, until suddenly, there is a great splash and all the guests of the party run to the pool to see what has happened. In the pool is a man and he is swimming as hard as he can, and the tails come out of the water and the jaws are snapping and this guy just keeps on going and the alligators are gaining on him and this guy reaches the end and he gets out of the pool, tired and soaked. The millionaire grabs the microphone and says, 'I am a man of my word, anything of mine I will give, my Ferraris, my house, absolutely anything, for you are the bravest man I have ever seen. So sir what will it be?' the millionaire asks. The guy grabs the microphone and says, 'Why don't we start with the name of the jerk that pushed me in!'

Veteran Caps And Morons
Yesterday, I wore it when I went to Walmart. There
was nothing in particular that I needed at the world's
largest retailer; but, since I retired, trips to Wally
World to look at the Walmartians is always good for
some comic relief. Besides, I always feel pretty
normal after seeing some of the people that frequent
the establishment. But, I digress...enough of my
psychological fixations.

While standing in line to check out, the guy in front
of me, probably in his early thirties, asked, "Are you
a Viet Nam Vet?"

"No," I replied.

"Then why are you wearing that cap?"

"Because I couldn't find the one from the War of
1812."

I thought it was a snappy retort.

"The War of 1812, huh?" the Walmartian queried,
"When was that?"

God forgive me, but I couldn't pass up such an
opportunity.

"1936," I answered as straight-faced as possible.

He pondered my response for a moment and
responded, "Why do they call it the War of 1812
if it was in 1936?"

"It was a Black Op. No one is supposed to know
about it."

This was beginning to be way fun!

"Dude! Really?" he exclaimed. "How did you
get to do something that COOOOL?"

I glanced furtively around me for effect, leaned
toward the guy and in a low voice said, "I'm not
sure. I was the only Caucasian on the mission."

"Dude," he was really getting excited about what
he was hearing, "that is seriously awesome! But,
didn't you kind of stand out?"

"Not really. The other guys were wearing white
camouflage."

The moron nodded knowingly.

"Listen man," I said in a very serious tone, "You
can't tell anyone about this. It's still 'top secret'
and I shouldn't have said anything."

"Oh yeah?" he gave me the 'don't threaten me
look.'

"Like, what's gonna happen if I do?"

With a really hard look I said, "You have a family
don't you? We wouldn't want anything to happen
to them, would we?"

The guy gulped, left his basket where it was and
fled through the door. By this time the lady behind
me was about to have a heart attack she was
laughing so hard. I just grinned at her.

After checking out and going to the parking lot I
saw Dimwit leaning in a car window talking to a
young woman. Upon catching sight of me he
started pointing excitedly in my direction. Giving
him another 'deadly' serious look, I made the 'I
see you' gesture . He turned kind of pale, jumped
in the car and sped out of the parking lot.

What a great time!

Tomorrow I'm going back with my Homeland
Security cap.

Whoever said retirement is boring just needs the
right kind of cap!

No problem with the pickup vs animal deal, Obama's got that all worked out...Paper says the O administration has mandated new fuel economy rules to force the auto makers to have a CAFE average of 54.5 mpg by 2025....He says it will save american drivers 1.7 trillion a year or $8000.00 per driver as well as working to eliminate greenhouse gasses....

The auto manufacturers are scratching their collective heads wondering just how they can make a 1 ton pickup get 45 mpg with available technology... Obama says they will have to develop it or else and Obama will take all the credit for solving the problem...

Yes it will force auto makers to invest in magic new technology to meet the mandated CAFE standards but the problem is the cars will be so expensive that nobody can afford to buy one so Americans will no longer be forced to buy gasoline and the environment will be much cleaner so problem solved....BUT now the auto makers will go into bankruptsy and lay off all their workers and Obama will save the day and bail them out with taxpayer money that doesn't exist so they don't go broke....Wait a minute, didn't we just do this???...Obama math doesn't figure and the man doesn't have a clue and if we don't get him out of office in November I don't see America making it to 2016 much less 2025!!!....

I've already went shooting three times with her.
And will head back Friday for some more fun and games.

I don't know what a HiPoint is.
Is that like Jennings, Bersa or KelTec?

Fortunately looks can be deceiving.
Her ergonomics make most every other gun I've held pale in comparison.

I actually think the Walther PPQ is nearly identical.
I don't know who copied from the other.
But this looks like more than a coincidence to me.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. One of the guys at the range insisted that I try his "fotay" version. With that much weight, there was very little recoil. Thing was accurate shooting free hand. Do I want one . . . NO! But, they work. They are cheap. It was fun to shoot.

The warranty follows the gun which means you can buy a POS at a gun show and get full support. There must be a lot of profit in them because the stories I have heard about their support are amazing (amazingly positive, that is). :D

I've got a nice little collection of handguns I think.
Some very good looking classic examples.
But I'm a self defense carry gun guy first and foremost.
Function means more to me than looks.
And my favorite carry/range guns are my two double stack polymer autos.
HK P30 40 V1 Light LEM and my tricked out Glock G27-357 Sig.
It's not even a conscious choice.
Those are just the guns I reach for.
That's just the way it is...

Not only so, but those vehicles will be so expensive that only the elite can afford them, and so light that they will be very dangerous in a wreck. Can you picture 20 people hanging onto the outside of an overloaded bus or train trying to get to work? BO won't be happy until America is a Third World Country!

Well life is just full of kicks in the butt. The Surgeon informed me today that due to the extensive damage to my liver, that the by-pass has gone from a routine procedure, into a fairly risky one. Just what I needed to hear. Oh well, I should at least survive the procedure, it's the next few days that they are concerned about. All I can do is put it in God's hands and let him decide how he wants to handle this one. Hope to be seeing you all later. :001_huh:

"What is to be the consequence, in case the Congress shall misconstrue this part [the necessary and proper clause] of the Constitution and exercise powers not warranted by its true meaning, I answer the same as if they should misconstrue or enlarge any other power vested in them ... the success of the usurpation will depend on the executive and judiciary departments, which are to expound and give effect to the legislative acts; and in a last resort a remedy must be obtained from the people, who can by the elections of more faithful representatives, annul the acts of the usurpers." --James Madison, Federalist No. 44, 1788

NFL owner more interested in winning election than winning games
His New York Jets are struggling on the field, but team owner Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson told Bloomberg News today that it's more important to him to see Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get elected.

Johnson, chairman of Johnson Co. and a great-great-grandson of the founder of Johnson & Johnson, is the New York state chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign.

His Jets are 2-2 this season, and fans are smarting after Sunday's 34-0 pounding at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Nevertheless, Johnson has his priorities. When an interviewer on Bloomberg Television's "Market Makers" asked him whether football or politics was more important, Johnson responded:

"Well, I think you always have to put country first. So I think it’s very, very important, not only for us but in particular for our kids and grandkids, that this election come off with Mitt Romney and Ryan as president and vice president.”

I'd call it a toss up Linc. We have a lot to look back on, but the kids have a lot to look forward to. I hope that they enjoy the ride as much as you and I have.

This is just for fun, not intended for anything other than a laugh. :19:

12 Reasons to Vote for a Democrat

When your family or friends cannot explain why they voted for a Democrat, they should be given this list.

1. I voted for a Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

2. I voted for a Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

3. I voted for a Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

4. I voted for a Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers, rapists, thugs, and thieves.

5. I voted for a Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will disappear in ten years because of Global Warming if I don’t start driving a Prius or a Chevy Volt.

6. I voted for a Democrat because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

7. I voted for a Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

8. I voted for a Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.

9. I voted for a Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution regularly to suit some fringe folks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

10. I voted for a Democrat because I think that it’s better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill for our own because it might upset some useless endangered beetle, gopher, or fish.

11. I voted for a Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world, I was promised “HOPE AND CHANGE.”

12. I voted for a Democrat because my head is so firmly buried in my butt that it’s unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view.
