I know this says "K" series but I was wonder how many of you bought one of the original "E" series? I did.

Around 1995 or so I bought the first (and to this day ONLY) E series guns. These were carbon steel frames with a staked front sight instead of dovetailed. It was purchased at Martin B. Retting in Culver City, CA and the serial ended in 0042 so it must have been a very early gun.

This pistol was with me through thick and thin, ups and downs. I went though a very bad time when I had to sell many of my guns but for a while I lived in a bad area of SoCal and I never let go of the E9. It spent the night near my bed and it spent many night in tents in many desert and mountain camps. It came with me when I moved to TN. No gun fit my hand like that E9.

Well no gun other than a P9. Then, several months ago, I was in a shop here in TN and saw they had the CW9. I was not even looking for a gun but I was carrying my Kahr E9. I asked to see the CW9. It had a nicer trigger than the old E9. It fit my hand better. The shop gave me a very good trade in on the E9 and that afternoon my holster went home filled with the MUCH lighter CW9:o

While I regret having to sell the E9 to get this pistol it was a good move. The CW9 is a much better carry gun for me.

So.....did anyone else here start their Kahr journey with a E9?

I bought a used E9 about a year ago. Mine has a stainless frame and black slide with staked front sight. I like it a lot it has never had a failure of any kind. I don't know what year it was made. I checked the numbers on Glock Talk and didn't find mine (AY0080) maybe someone here has some idea what year it was made. I shoot other guns better, but I like the feel of it. I hit targets at 7yd ok but when I get to 20yd I have no idea where the bullet is hitting :confused:http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/ww215/MotownStan/P1000135.jpg

If you call Kahr customer service with your serial number, they'll be happy to look it up and tell you exactly when it was made.

I just noticed my frame is different than Otto's photo.I have a screw as a release stop. And my frame is smooth, not scalloped.I checked Kahr's website and the diagram shows no screw.Anyone else have one with a screw type stop?

Can you post a pic so we can see what you're talking about?

My E9 was my gift to myself on my 21st birthday. I still have it. It has only had one misfire; and that was right after I had it teflon coated (inside and out) and Elite 98 trigger installed.

I too bought a CW9 and the trigger is superior.

My E9 is like new practically and get quite a bit of carry (I pamper my guns). The birth date on the test case envelope and serial# suggest it is from the 2nd generation of E9's which was 2003 if my memory is right. It is a great piece for the money and with all the heft on the slide and interchangeable K9 parts I picture it as a great base gun for some custom work. Any recommendations for custom Kahr work?

Got my E9 a few years ago because I like the Glock "no frills" look to the slide. I am considering having the slide dovetailed in the front so I can mount night sights. So far, 100% reliable, and even feeds empty cases from the magazine!

I have had my E9 for about 6 yrs now...bought used.
The only thing that I have had a problem with was with a broken slide catch (lever part sheared).
It is on my No-Trade list.
It is interesting to note the diferent E-9 models in the pics above...mine is like G31's.
