I have a P45 and a CW9... I was cleaning both of them a few weeks ago and dropped both the barrels in Hoppes to soak for a while.
I pulled the P45's barrel out, wiped it down, scrubbed it out and all is well.
I pulled the CW9's barrel out, wiped it down, and about soiled my drawers. Unlike the P45's barrel, the CW9's barrel darkened up. I rubbed on it a while but it's obviously stained in some way.
I've read the warnings about soaking nickel-plated parts in Hoppes overnight... is the barrel on the CW9 some sort of electrolytically plated finish?
It doesn't really bother me, in fact, I wish the slide was black like my P45's, but I'm just curious.
