And now I am getting ready to jump on the Kahr wagon. Looking to spend around $500 and have been looking up and down for a used K9 or possible MK9. I will not pocket carry (maybe once in a while if wearing cargo shorts), most likely end up IWB unless find a nice high ride belt holster that works with me. Always loved the feel of the Kahr trigger even though I am also a Glock fan (but the 26 is just to wide FOR ME to carry every day). Personally I have come to the conclusion that width followed by grip length are the two most important aspects for me when CCW, weight not so much. (With a jacket I have been known to carry a Smith 4" 681).

Anyway, I am finding some good deals on the P9 and PM9, but, not on the K or MK series. As weight is not that big of a factor I always liked the idea of the all steel Kahrs. Guess what I'm asking is how big is the difference in shoot ability between the two? Should I just hold out for the right K (or MK)?

The P9, CW9, and CM9 (cheaper version of the PM9) are very nice shooters. Now like you said they are not all steel but I have had the CW9, CM9, and CW45 and they all shoot very well and are controllable.

All a matter of personal preference.... I like the steel feel of the K9!

They both shoot very well but as expected the K9 feels more solid and recoils better. Since you say weight is not an issue I'd wait for the K9. Then get yourself a nice holster and belt, you won't regret it!

Recently there have been some NYPD K9 trade-ins floating around near that price range. Check www.aimsurplus.com, www.cdnninvestments.com, www.budsgunshop.com among others.

Yep...I paid $500 for mine used, but it was like new.

Can't go wrong with AIM Surplus. If they're out of stock, put your name on the notify list when they get some in.
All these used guns need to be stripped down, cleaned, springs replaced and treated with love. They weren't previously. Awesome weapons!
But also seriously consider the CM9 as well. It's way lighter and shoots just as well once you learn the Kahr trigger.

Most of those NYPD trade-ins were carried a lot, not shot that much. Some of them not cleaned regularly, so pretty crudded up. But a little TCL and maybe some new springs and they're good to go.

If you like the all steel Kahrs, get the MK9 for better concealability IWB. I had a K9 that I reget selling; but, I now have an MK9 that I like better than I ever liked my K9. Neverheless, if a good deal comes up on a K9, I will probably get another.

Like JFootin says, if you look for a deal on a NYPD gun you can save a few bucks. But, see my post about turd polishing to see what you could end up with if you buy one sight unseen. It cleaned up ok but it was rough when I got it. You could also hold out for a nice used one - others have reported spending around $500 for those in very good shape.
