Not a new shooter, but a new Kahr shooter...
Bought the CM9, and it functioned flawless;y the first time out - BUT, why does the mag not seat flush and my Kahr seems to shoot about 4-6" low at 7yards with 115 ammo but really seemed to like 124s better for a closer POI/POA situation.
Is this the norm for both questions? (mag and POI?)
Thanks in advance

My guess on the low part is shooter error or front sight needs to cover more of the target. The mag thing is on most all kahrs. It is what it is. accept it and forget about it.
At 7yards, I can't see how 115 or 124 grain would make any difference in groups. Just sayin.
get some snap caps. and insert a half dozen in with 30 good rounds and trust me it will show ur shooting errors real fast and more than likely u will have answered ur own questions to.
A new kahr shooter also could be u are just not yet accustomed to the loooooong but so smooth kahr trigger system. I can guarantee u we have 98% of more shooters who shoot low on this forum than those who ever shot high. U will get better with more rounds to. It just seems to work that way for most

... why does the mag not seat flush ...
You will appreciate that in case of double feed malfunction - easy to grad the mag and yank it our. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. [/QUOTE]

Same thing here. Have to aim at the top of the hood to hit between the eyes. Don't know why. Shoots dead on at 25 yards though.

Lots of folks complain about the way the mag looks, but functionally it's not an issue. Some folks have taken the baseplate from a CW45 and stuck it on their CM9 magazine to eliminate the gap, and you can still grab and pull it out if you need to.
I have several 9mm pistols, and the CM9 is the only 9mm pistol I can consistently nail the bullseye right in the center with. Took a bit to get used to the trigger pull and the sight picture as stated by others, but once you get it dialed in, it's sweet.

Regarding POI:
You definitely want to be dotting the i meaning the dot on the front sight should be a little above the white bar not on it. When first using the Kahr sights my eye wanted to place the dot directly on top of the white bar and that makes you shoot low. Also, by concentrating on using the pad of my finger on the trigger and not knuckling it (my CM9 is small for my large hands) I no longer pull shots low. The Kahr combat sights are good for that purpose. Combat. They are not the best target shooting sights. They are quick to line up left to right but a little harder to get perfect vertically. The human body is longer than it is wide (for most people anyway) so this makes it a little easier to hit your target with these sights. Shooting a little low is still on target. However, with some practice and adjustment to the trigger you will stop shooting low.

I wish they were 3 dot.

The magazine protrudes to insure proper seating during a mag change. It's a design feature, not a flaw.

I swore my PM9 shot 6" high at 7 yards until I benchrested it...its dead on. For me I have to lollipop it a tad, not cover it, but it is way more accurate than I am. Coming from 3-dots it took me some practice to visually realize how to hold the stacked sights, I had the front a tad higher than the back and was throwing me off.
Benchrest it just to gain the confidence and point of aim, then as stated above practice with it and you should be good to go.
My Sigs have contrast sights ( i ) almost identical to Kahr's. Mine shoot to point of aim rather than 6 o'clock exactly like my PM9. I'm used to it and I like it. Therefore most other guns seem to shoot high to me. Sig also calls this sight a combat sight and I have read they zero them on the center of the dot at 25 yds. We all just have to be familier with our equipment.

Thanks for all of the help-I guess I need more range time to compare the P7 and G26 and see how they compare for sight pictures

My CM9 is the same way. The closer the target is the lower it shoots. For a pocket/self defense pistol POA/POI should be set closer to 10 yards from the factory, not 25. Just my opinion.
