My CW9 has about a thousand trouble free rounds through it and today at the range I started having problems with the mag dropping out during shooting. I'm sure I was not pressing the mag release and it was happening with 3 different mags. Never had this happen before.

Got the gun home and cleaned her and noticed the magazine catch spring seems to have been pushed down as the top end is not seated in the proper groove in the magazine catch. The catch spring is still flush and parallel with mag well but appears shorter than it used to be. It's stuck on the bottom of the mag catch so it's doesn't have it's full force to keep the magazine catch closed during the guns recoil. I could try pulling the pin out a little and seating it back in it's proper place but I wouldn't trust it to stay there.

I'm not too worried I trust Kahr will take care of it.....right?
I'll call them in the AM.

I would take some pics but wife has the camera and she's out of town.

anyone else have this happen to them?

Send them an email. Much less frustrating than trying to get thru by phone on a Monday morning. They will respond quickly.

Have you been lubricating it with Crisco? It's shortening.

I spoke with Ian today and he gave me the option to sent in the gun or he would send me new spring to see if maybe the wrong size got put in at the factory. He said if the new spring is the same size as the one I pull out of my gun then send the gun in and they will take care of it. I told him to send the spring I'll give that a try

He was very nice and is sending a new mag catch just in case that's the problem and a new recoil spring at no charge just because I ask when Kahr recommends changing it out (1200 rounds).

espresso,
Looking at your photo, it appears to me that the red arrow below is pointing at the bottom of the latch spring. The green arrow points at what seems to be a shadow on the spring. If that is correct, then I'm of the opinion that you spring is the right size/installed correctly.

When my CW45 started dropping mags Kahr sent me a mag latch that had some machining done to it: http://kahrtalk.com/showpost.php?p=15667&postcount=2

WOW gb6491!
I think you are right....blown up the pic shows that the spring looks to be in place.
I'll compare the new mag catch to the old one and see if it looks any different.

Maybe it won't have to go back to Kahr after all.

Thanks

when the magazine is inthe gun is the magcatchtotally flush with the right sideof the grip ???It must be or it is not fully egaging in the cube cut out. Now witht he magazinein the gun try to just pullit out, try every way u can. If no luck then I wpould also advise testing out shooting it left handed to see if u can duplicate. Not saying it is shooter error either but u gotta start somewhere to tliminate the possab\ilities and the above 3 are possables..

I did check to make sure the mag catch was flush with the right side all is good there.

I put a dab of CLP on the catch maybe that slicked things up too much and allowed the catch to move during recoil? I really don't know.
I'll clean everything with some gun blaster and instal the new mag catch and spring and see what happens.
If it's still a problem, I'll try shooting lefty and see what that does.
I'm sure I'll get it right, if not I'll just send it to Kahr and let them fix it.
