View Full Version : Notch of metal knocked out on the inside of the slide where recoil spring, guide goes
After firing 50 rounds in my CW45, I noticed a small notch of metal knocked out where the recoil spring, guide rod enters the slide. It is where the cuts in the circular housing of the slide are. Should I notify Kahr about a replacement slide? I hate it when this happens to a brand new pistol! I planned on carrying this pistol daily after break-in, but now it looks like that won't happen until I get this issue resolved.

Does it look like this notch in thisT9? If so, it is normal, there to accomodate the tilt of the barrel.

I was a little alarmed myself when I saw the same on my new cw45. The notch on mine was (and is) smaller than the picture shown and the edges were a little rough or jagged. I just used 600 grit sandpaper and smoothed the jagged edges by hand. I hope this is ok? It is good to know that this is a normal notch.
Thanks for the info! I am going to contact kahr at the service site and see what they recommend. So-far only 2 FTE, but the mouth of the fired brass sure was bent and mangled for the first 20 rd. or so! Seems to be getting better the more rds. through the pistol.
Maned brass is normal. Lots of good info in the manual.
called kahr and was told the notch was normal, and not worry about it, and to continue the break-in. I am also going to purchase the trijicon nite sights this week. I have read that Massad suggested having the factory install them. But then pistol is in limbo till I get it back! Anyone know what sight pusher/removal tool has worked the best for this should be easier task.

Don't forget that the dove tails are not perfectly parallel... but more open on one side... a b!tch to push out the tighter side! And those Tritium vials CAN be broken.
