Keeping my Kaur and Springfield too. Can't imagine an impact so hard that it broke his gun. But then again I'm not trucking around in the desert on a quad looking for illegals either. It's a tuff job my friends...

everything is a trade off. We want light and easy to carry but that is the trade off. I dont think that it is a real problem with poly guns though. We would hear a lot more of this from LE depts if it was.

also could be a fluke. only thing i'd be doing is asking that HK (i.e. single manufacturer, single point in time) eval the serial numbers produced around the same time and see if there was something 'bad' about the poly mix or curing process. but agreed, if poly guns were sheering in half at every little accident, we'd know it by know. it's a non-story. interesting, kinda funny, but pointless.
if i were riding a 4 wheeler looking for illegals, the condition of my sidearm would be the last of my worries. to get me to do that, i'd need 2 or 3 sidearms, couple of shotguns, 2 ARs, maybe a box of grenades on the back. put me out there w/ a 4 wheeler, I'm maxing the load on that baby.

I agree with the poster after the article. Better the gun "give" and break apart than a body part, ie., leg, hip, etc. After a hit hard enough to break his gun apart he was probably out of any kind of fight any way.
