Does anyone have recommendations for removing the black finish on the guide rod? I tried to search for this already, best I could find was someone mentioning that they polished it off. The guide rod on my CW9 is marked up quite a bit from the recoil spring, which I believe is completely normal. I figured that removing the black finish would have to look better than the chewed up black/silver look its got going on. Has anyone done this and can anyone provide any advice for best results? Forgive me if this is an ignorant question.

I just tried to buy a new stainless stell recoil guide rod for my new MK40 and Kahr said it was out of stock. They emplied the they don't know when they will get them back in stock. I ordered a guide rod and spring set from Wolff but theirs is not stainless. The black is a corrosion finish and I am reluctant to try to polish that off. I may take TucsonMTB's advice and check out Steve Bedair.

Steve's a good guy and his stuff is top notch. I put one in my K40. High quality.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure if using an aftermarket guide rod was frowned upon. If you guys say there is no issue I guess ill just have to pick one up, the one with the checkered end looks pretty slick. That's a good point Nimrod, I didn't think about corrosion protection.

I suggest some liquid Flitz & a clean rag. It works quick & easy.
