I don't know why I keep watching them. In the last few weeks I have heard TV experts explain how the military switched to 1/9 twist in all their current guns to reliably stabilize 62 grain bullets. Then that the Egyptian Maddi AK in semi-auto is very popular with American civilian shooters, and is the most authentic AK available in terms of being like Russian manufactured guns. I recall when that was true--circa 1990. Perhaps that is when they stopped paying attention to the firearms industry? Why doesn't someone pay me to do this stuff? :D I guess I am not pretty enough for TV. Fortunately my good friend Mark Craighead and his friends at Trigger Time is bringing some good sense to the medium. In fairness there are some good shows--it just seems like it is mostly the newer people in the industry, and not those from print publications, etc..

Okay, ranting complete...carry on..

C'mon John with that knowledge and Bogart looks you're a shoe-in!

Really, it's better than the crap that NBC, CBS, and ABC air.

I don't watch much TV anymore, but I do watch American Guns and Sons of Guns. Although they are reality shows, they do have and do some really cool stuff. They are shows about guns! And not negative about them. That's good enough for me!

I watched Stars Earn Stripes? the other night, happened to be on, wasn't going to since I figured it would be stupid but it actually was pretty cool.

Real stuff, real military and police type guys, real bullets, grenades and plenty of C4.

The 2 strongest toughest stars washed out on the amphibious assault. Too much muscle and not enough fat to float or swim with all that gear on.

I'll watch it again if I happen to see it on.

A very good question to ask.

I dumped my satellite TV several years ago so now only get a few broadcast channels and Netflix, but catch a few of these shows at hotels while traveling. I have "enjoyed" the few minutes in which I have seen something new or informative, but 99% of the time it is just stuff done to hook the audience so they will keep watching and also watch the commercials.

My wife watches some talk show junk on TV that just riles her up - I call it "irritainment" because it makes her mad - but she just can't seem to stop watching it for some reason.

Personally I would rather being doing something myself than watching someone else do something.

I stopped watching anything but the Top Shot show. It's great to see real "experts" blow shots, but once in a while there is some spectacular shooting! I like to see the self-taught "underdogs" kick a$$ quite often. Those other shows are too contrived with too much "inventing" stuff going on.

TV? What's a TV? I devote all of my time to Kahr Talk. I gotta get a life. :)

Speaking of American Guns. I watched the episode when Page disassembled her Colt defender. When they showed a closeup of the Defender it had a full length Idiot Scratch on it!

You mean there was a gun in that scene? :w00t:

Go underdogs! Top Shot is cool. I watched Top Guns, but found myself fast-forwarding a bunch. I don't really watch those other gun shows for the same reason, but it is nice to see stuff on TV that doesn't demonize guns or shooting.

I don't watch much TV these days, but American Restoration, and American Pickers are also good shows.

Being an avid shooter, 3rd degree Black Belt and a professional computer programmer.
I find many TV shows and movies on subjects I have knowledge of laughable.
My Master would tell me it's entertainment, don't get all wound up about it.

Good words to live by.

BTW I think you have a striking resemblance to Humphrey Bogart

Thanks Barth! Maybe a film noir themed gun show would be the ticket. Auto-Ordnance could certainly provide props for a few shows. ;)

Maybe I made the right choice to have never watched one. Of course, I seldom watch TV at all, if you don't count the eighteen hours of Mecum Auctions at Monterey this weekend.
