I have an opportunity to buy an older never shot TP9 with the shorter frame for $500 or a new P9 with night sights for $560.00. Thoughts? It is going to be my EDC gun.
Thanks in advance.

Both would look good on your waistband in the holster of your choice.
But, a P9 with night sights . . . three ounces lighter, night sights, and only $60 more for a new pistol with warranty that lists for $150 more than the other choice . . . is a "no brainer" for me. The P9 is the winner.
However, if you prefer bigger guns and want the extra round . . . well, passing on the bargain P9 would accomplish your goals.
What works for me, is probably different from what works for you. I'm a "fotay" kind of a guy who prefers pocket carry (PM40).

I'd be tempted to go for the longer barreled TP9. Other than that, IMHO, the two guns are identical in how they shoot and function. The longer barrel gives you a tad bit more velocity and longer sight radius. The grip and capacity is the same and night sights can be added if desired.
I have both the P9 and the longer 8 round grip sized TP9, and find I enjoy shooting the TP9 more. Maybe it's the longer grip... I don't know, I just like it more than the P9, which I like alot too by the way.

I love my TP, but it's the longer grip model. I always thought the orig TP looked a bit 'oblong' for lack of a better term, and that it'd be a tad front heavy. I don't find that I'm any more or less accurate w/ my P9 or my TP9. They shoot pretty much exactly the same.
Given the two, and that you are saying EDC, I'd go w/ the P9 and the night sights. But that's just me. Slightly shorter barrell = slightly more comfortable, but you are still talking about a gun tons more concealable (in the TP) than most anything out there.

Not trying to argue . . . just taking the "poor man's point of view", because I am one. :o
If a new gun is a concern, then I'd look at Bud's price of $524 for a new TP9, not much more than the price of the used gun the OP is looking at.
Either way, the P or TP make for easy carry and concealment.

thanks for the help, right now I carry a PM9, so I'm looking for a bigger gun for owb carry. The TP9 is new, coming from a distributor so it would have a warranty. I like the looks of both guns, but the night sights are important to me.
Regarding the PM40, I have one of those too. :)

Thanks TusconMTB, I have been a long time lurker and read the forum about 3 or 4 times a day. I have found lots of great info here. I will post pics as soon as she arrives.

Keep in mind, the shorter grip TP9 hasn't been around for ages. Even if the pict on the site you are ordering from shows it, it's quite possibly a mistake, you could be ordering and getting a new grip style (8+1).
Only reason I say that is I went round and round w/ a few places online (grabagun, jetguns, buds, etc) and nobody could confirm which it was but jetguns did managed to physically check.
Just thought I'd mention that. If you've already confirmed it's the short grip, then cool.

Thanks chrish, I ended up ordering the P9 with night sights. I will have it tomorrow. Oh I also bout a p380 while I was at it. So now I will be the proud owner of a PM9 (EDC right now) PM40 (new in the box, never shot), CM9 (wife's gun), P9 (new EDC gun), and a p380 (BUG).
I truly love the Kahr trigger and think they are some of the best guns on the market.

Congrats! I think you'll love that size. I've grown to like my TP9 better (shooting), but BECAUSE of the longer grip. I still don't carry it much because of that, the P9 is still the goto CCW. I think the P9 is the absolute perfect size for a CCW (grip, barrell, weight). I understand the need for some folks that want to pocket carry and end up w/ a PM series or P380, but for IWB, the P9 is the faschnizzle!
Happy shooting!

Gotta agree w/ Bawanna on that, what he said !
I bought my TP9 from jetguns earlier this year. I paid extra to get it here super fast only to go to the FFL to pick it up and find out that background checks were running a week in my state. I cried all the way home, no pistol should have to live in squaller at the LGS overnight, it's like the pound for guns!

chrish, I have my FFL so I'm good to go on back ground checks :) I wasn't home to accept the FEDEX package so they bumped it to today. I just got the call that it is at the FEDEX facility awaiting my pick up. I'll have it in an hour or so. :)
