The BATF closed my favorite gun store, cause the husband of the FFL holder is a felon, I had no idea.

And yesterday I had a heart catheter, and they couldn't fix the problem, so have to have a triple by-pass in a week from today. I am not liking none of this. Then 6 weeks of down-time after the by-pass. Got 100%, an 80% and a 60% blockages. So after next week I won't be around here for a while. OK, you can stop cheering now.
Y'all take care while I'm away.

Bad news but you got a huge cheering squad right here. Get ya a lap top. We'll help keep your spirits up while your laying around.
Think how much better your gonna feel when you got all the lines running at capacity, you'll be a new man. Have to tie an anchor to your foot to keep up with ya.
We're routing for ya, don't give the nurses too bad a time, they are the most important player, make or break a hospital stay.

Thanks everyone for the kind words thoughts an prayers. I do have a laptop so maybe i can hook up to the hospital's network. They put a hard cast on my wrist the other day, and it makes it a bit of a chore to do quite a bit of things like type, but that's ok, i would probably get it off ib a month, but not sure if i'll be out of the heart rehab place yet.
The by-pass has me a little bit nervous, both the procedure, they gotta open up your rib cage to get to the heart and then replace some arteries or veins - just doesnt sound like much fun at all, and the 6-8 week recovery time. Hopefully the lawn will be dormant by then. Lack of rain has it growin very slow anyway. Had some things planned, but guess they will wait. And gonna miss a lot of good ridin weather, but maybe I can ride after awhile, have to ask. can't ride at all right now with this cast on. i'm sick of it after just a few days. Now i kinda wish I'd waited to get a dog, but i think my brother will board him for awhile. oh well if we didn't have some bad times in our lives, we wouldn't know when we had the better times.

Good luck to ya there thetman, we're all pulling for you...I know you are bummed by the diagnosis but TRUST me on this, It's a million times better to get the pipes cleared now BEFORE a major heart attack which will do irreversible damage....The Doc's got this thing down to a science now and I personally know three men who after a stress test found out the same thing your Doc told you and they all had a triple bypass performed and all were up and around in a very short period of time and EACH one said they couldn't believe how much better they felt once the blood was flowing properly again...
My prayers are with you as well as everyone else here at the club so don't worry about a thing and get your butt back here pronto fellow!!!!

Tom, I'm keeping you and the medical staff in my thoughts and prayers. The medical staff because I hope it's the best procedure they've ever performed. You because I hope you make it back to full strength in record time.

I have several friends who have had bypass surgery. EVEY one said the incision to take the vein out of your leg to get the bypass material hurt FAR worse than the cracked chest. Maybe they will use a dacron/artificial vein for the bypasses.

We expect you back promptly in 4 weeks at the most. Hang in there.
On the positive side, you're still going ok when going in. That's why I say see you in 4 weeks at the most. 15 years ago my dad had a heart attack, heart stopped twice, then triple bypass, and he's been good ever since so you'll do well. Try to flirt with the nurses. It helped my dad get through it OK too :).

i went out to dinner with my brother and a group of friends, and 2 oh them had triple bypasses done and both said they felt much better after they got healed up some. They said the recovery wasnt a lot of fun, and they get you up and walking real soon, like in a day or two, and that's a bit painful, but would probably be worse if they let you lay around for a week then got you walkin. i been just a draggin around with no energy, thought it was my bad liver not getting the nutrients out if food, but know i know, what it is, and should feel like a new man once i get healed up. Thanks again for all well wishes and prayers. you are a damm fine bunch of people!

Sorry to hear that themanski. I had a quad in 2002 and have done fine since. The whole ordeal wasn't as bad as I expected. Take solace in the fact that the Drs. and hospitals are very good at preforming this procedure. Good luck and I hope you do well. Let us know.

What everybody else has said goes for me too.
I've been the cath route with my blockages, but got off with just 3 stents.
Lots of good thoughts for a comfortable recovery, and before you know it you will be back to your ornery self again.

Hey themanski, It'll be fine. I had the same thing eight years ago. I never had a heart attack, but they caught it on an EKG when I went in for a sore knee. [Never found out why they did the EKG] In the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, CAT lab Thursday, Triple bypass on Friday afternoon, and home by noon on Monday. My job is fairly physical, but I was back at work in ten days. I never even think about it unless I see the small scars on my leg where they got the veins for the bypass. You'll be in my prayers.

Sorry to hear you need the surgery but you are very fortunate that they found it before your heart was damaged by a heart attack. Several people I know who have been through
by-pass surgery say that the doctors warn them that depression is a common side effect.
IF that happen it shouldn't last too long. I bet it will disappear as soon as you get to play with your guns again.
My Husban and I will be praying for you, and your doctors!!

Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers. They cant hurt. charlieW thanks for the offer, but i have a few people lined up if i need anything, starting with my brother and going thru some friends. my brother has been real good to me and will have me recuperating at his house until i can live on my own.
If you like maybe we should go shooting in a couple months. I'm big on observing safe shooting rules, and was a young hunter safety clinic teacher fo several years unitil i got sick back in 2001-2004 and had to give it up.
I can't believe my gun store got shutdown. i visited with the husband quite a bit and never would have guessed he had a felony. He was a real nice guy, I thought. You'd think they would know better than that, naybe since it happened in another state the didnt think it applied here.
