pm9 all steel mag catch came in today...looks the same as the plastic version with the steel insert Greg posted in another thread.....i did not take micrometer measurements but "eye balling" it looks the same however; there is a night and day difference in the way they each hold the magazine.

with the stock magazine catch spring the plastic one took very little pressure on the button to drop the mag. that is unsat and many blamed a natural shooting grip or even the ammo on this:rolleyes:.

the all steel mag catch (with stock mag catch spring) takes a deliberate and positive amount of pressure to release the magazine, seems to require a slight bit more travel to do so as well.....as it should be.

i am back aboard the pm9 wagon.:D

Does it matter if the catch is steel or not and can you get it for PM40?

DONT KNOW. the pn for the pm9 was 017pm9...i think....the guns are the same except for caliber so it shouldnt matter.....the all steel version seems to do what i wanted, making an accidental bump of the mag catch button a non-issue.

i ordered the only mag catch they list for the PM9. i asked the lady on the phone to confirm that it was in stock, she did, and when i asked her she said they only make steel mag catches now for the pm9.

Thanks Jerry. Think I will have to get one for my new CM9; that is, if said lady is not completely full if sh*t.

jocko, i dont know if that lady was full of it or not, but i specifically asked if the mag catch i was ordering (017pm9) was all steel and she said yes....and that is what i recieved.

believe me, i am the one to ***** about a gun costing as much as the PM9 does and not fuctioning properly, so if there is a fault you will hear me speak out about it. i am not a fan boy, my loyalty lays with performance not name brand.

just got back from the range and popped off 100 wwb 115gr. fmj. not one problem at all with this gun. no mag drops due to puny mag catch shelf, no mag drops due to follower not being modified, no mag drops due to my shooting thumb slightly touching the mag catch button.....

at 21' i kept all rounds on a 8" shoot-n-c target firing double taps. did so with a little more speed with the seven round mag because i had a bit more to hold on to but the six rounder worked just fine.

while this is a DAO trigger it is not the same as a DA revolver....similar but not the same; as i was unable to stage the trigger like i can with a revolver....this guns a keeper with its limited application in mind...

is it competition for my G26? not at all, the G26 shoots and handles like a true fighting gun, the PM9 shoots and handles like a pocket gun.

Jerry,
just wondering how long you've had your PM9, did you buy it new, and if you would relay the first two letters on your serial #? Want to compare how old and the series you have for comparison to what I have. How do you swap out the release buttons? Thanks.

KAHR TECH SECTION THERE IS A PHOTO tutorial on how to take that mag release button out. Might take a full 5 minutes to take it out and reinstalla new one. I am not good at posting where this is at but Iam sure now some good forum memberswill direct u to the correct place.

If u haveing no issues with your mag button, IMO, then "IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT. Whether it be of the polymer version or the now MIM version. Also again there is a photo showing each mag release soewhere here andI think GB 6491 has that somewhere.

Some thought the polymer version was weak and cheap. IMO not really so, as it engaged the magazinecut out with a steel insert that was made in the release button, so ur not wearing the polymer at all. Inmy liltle mind I think kahr went to the MIM part as a cost effective thing, as the Polmer one actualy was made of two parts that had to be matted up correctly.

Nice thing about what some have said in the past is that the polymer mag release didn't rust. the MIM part is more prone to rust in some areas of the cuntry.. Just sayin.

That being said,Yes I changed my polymer mag catch ovber to the MIM part when kahr started selling them as accessories, due to my mentaql process thinkin that Ihad tohave the new modern part in my gun, where prior to that I never ha done issue ever with the polymer part. Monkey see, monkey do..

Can't stop laughing Jocko... Of all the spelling errors I seen of yours, "cuntry" take the cake!

Occasionally a mag will drop while shooting. Same story as OP, thought (it may still be) it was/is my hand position. If new release will work, cheap investment. Thanks.
