A few years ago I was hurrying back home after picking up my brother & SIL from the Austin airport. Had just dropped them off at their house in Balcones Village after midnight, and was going about 10mph "over" on Lake Creek Parkway to 620 on the way back to my Brushy Creek neighborhood.

Two APD cruisers pulled me over in the gas station (now closed) on 620. The LEO who approached my car was very courteous and asked the usual questions (I admitted I was probably going too fast, but explained why the hurry - it was waaay past my bedtime after the late night airport run), while I kept my hands in plain sight with both IDs.

While examining the cards, he asked me if I was armed... to which I said yes, but that weapon was in the car console. He did not ask to see it, but did inquire as to what kind it was. When I told him "A Keltec .32", he just kind of looked at me...and I swear his eyes teared up a bit & his lips were quivering like he was gonna bust out laughing. I felt about as small as a .22 short.

He just gave me a verbal warning & sent me on my way.

Not long after that, I bought a Kahr PM9.

I heard a good come back about inadequacy..."If I were trying to compensate, I'd sure be carrying something with a barrel longer than 4 1/2 inches"

Wow, first time I've heard the PM9 referred to as a "big gun". :D

Good story Armybrat.

Rough crowd, rough crowd...Congrats on the new PM9 though! Now you also need to get a full size 1911, won't get any s**t on size with that.;)

I've had the irons below for years, but don't care to tote them around. Gave my PM9 to a son and got a CW45 to carry in cool weather. When it's warm, I pocket a Ruger LCP.

But the flames from those noobs were plain & intentional. No need for them to start a pissing match on this forum - there are plenty of rotten boards around for that.

Looks like you don't need the .45, you got two big brothers. Awesome! I traded a LC9, which is equivalent to the Kel-Tec for my K9.

it appears my comments were misunderstood like the expression from the cop that night.....my point was whatever reason you have was good enough for you so who cares what the cop thought about your gun or what you thought the cop was thinking about your gun. the kt p32 is a fine little gun, i owned one years ago and it was 100% with everything i put through it and it didnt need any kitchen table gunsmithing like other have had to do.

good luck with your pm9.
