Okay, I'm a LEO in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and just picked up a mint K9. Model K9093AC. S/N in the AR68xx range. I love this thing. Ordered three factory 8 rounders and a set of factory wood grips. This gun had a few dust bunnies in the barrel but not holster wear or nicks & dings. Gun is spotless. Trigger pull is a tad long but smooth. I currently carry a Sig P228 on duty but will qualify with the K9 next week to carry. I'm an Investigator and wear smooth clothes ( no uniform). Any idea when this was made and ant particular things I need to be aware of with this gun? Thanks in advance!

I am gonna say around 2002. u defihnitely got a NYPD trigger which is 1/2" in trigger pull. The kahrs without that have 3/8" trigger travel, so really not a bifg deal. I have one around thgat same era and it is a super gun, superr shooter and I have zero issues with the NYPD trigger. It is that way by design. U won;'t find a smoothger trigger either. Here is what I did with mine when I bought it . I went to Wolffs gunsprings and ordered a half dozen of the4ir recoil springs, I replaced the recoil spring. I also ordered their 5# striker sping which drops right in, with no mods needed. Ony changes the trigger pull not trigger tgravel, so u not gertting a hairy trigger at all, but maybe around a 1 to 2# poundage dropo from factory setting. I would suggest the kahr lube chart on the kahr tech section and also there is a dandy tutori8al on the slide dissassembly, which I would highly recommend u do to give at leat that one time through cleaning to be sure allis right. hard telling where this gun has been or what care has been done to it internally. That little clean out hole on the bottom of the slide up by te breech should then be ur primary clean out hole with any good spray cleaner. There are some dandy tips on the PROPPER PREPP8ING OF UR KAHRT in the kahr tech section also.
Nice gun great shooter, just takes some time to adjust to the loooooong trigger system.
Trust me rounds down range and quantiy down range mean nadda to a K9, u can't hurt if b y shootin it. If there ever was a tank made gun the K9 is it IMO.
welcome to the forum, nice people here..

Thanks.... I've giving this a good cleaning and spruced it up a bit with some mothers mag polish. I paid $335 for it and it was the best one out of ten they had at my LGS. If I had a bit more cash on my yesterday I would have gotten another one. Look forward to shooting and carrying it for my EDC at work. Love the forum too!

Welcome, I was born and raised in Garland... Do you have a holster for it yet? I am sure it will treat you well!

Welcome to the forum. That's a super price for the gun. As you are planning on carrying the Kahr, and it's use is unknown, I'd say a new recoil spring is in order as well. Kahr advises changing them about 1500 rounds or so.
I have a K9 equipped with Crimson Trace grips, which I find I really like. They feel very similar to the original polymer panels. If a laser is to your liking the CT is a good product.
I use grease on my Kahr rails, TW25b, and find it works great, stays put and doesn't evaporate.
Lots of holsters available for the K9. I like the Mitch Rosen Premier.

I've got a nice RL Graham belt slide holster. I also used some Wilson Combat gun grease on it. It's what I use for all my guns. I found that my Galco thumb break belt slide works great too ( for a 1911)

If you're qualifying with it next week, definitely go shoot it a lot. You probably don't have time to get the springs in it for qualification.
Don't be alarmed if it shoots low left. A guestimate of 80% of new Kahr shooters start low left. Visualize that buttery smooth trigger moving straight back. Feel it. It really does give you great tactile feedback. If you do your part, it will definitely shoot for you. It's all trigger control, not the weapon.
Good luck with it and welcome to the Forum!

I'm pretty good with the trigger control thing. My back-up is a S&W 638. I normally shoot a 98 out of 100 with it every time. Smooth double action trigger pull which is pretty close to this K9.... I wish Kahr could have added a "NY" prefix to the serial number like S&W did with the wheel guns of past. Could have added to the coolness factor. Thanks for all of the well wishes and warm welcome to a newbie

If you get along well with your 638, you'll do just fine and dandy with the kahr. It's basically a revolver without a cylinder.
We were all noobs at one time, that don't last long so don't dwell on that.
Course the higher your post count the dumber you get or so I've heard.
Welcome, nice having some lawmen around.

Welcome to KahrTalk. We live in DFW, jlottmc is my DH that has already replied. I'm assuming you work for the major department here in DFW across from Gilley's? This is a great group and are like family to us. DH just graduated self-sponsored in July so he's joined the ranks of being certified.
We love our Kahr's. When DH gets on with a department he wants another one as his graduation present.
