Hey all. If you can remember back to before you owned your first PM, I would like your input on this.
What questions did you have about the PM series pistols that were answered by the retailer or perhaps even by folks on this board?
While I temporarily have the full set of PMs in my possession, I'm working on a review/buying guide piece for my blog. You guys have already seen the RecoilCam video so I think I have that concern/question covered.
Remembering back to my first PM purchase, I think my only question for the counter staff was "Do you have this in black with night sights"? before walking out of the store with a P380 and PM9. Kahr had me sold on the PMs because I had such a great experience with the CW45 I bought on a whim previously.
Any and all help on this is appreciated. I really want to do a good job on this piece of work. Thanks!

when I orderedmine about 6years ago. the dealer actually never ever seen a kahr, so I did whgat research was out there myself. gander mt sells um now buyt the sales staff are very uninformed and they only know of a few of the kahr models.
Good luck on ur research and work. I would say alot of sales knowledge resorts back to the selling dealer and if they are sold on kahr products enough to stock them in depth etc and to train their employees accrodingly and then again it would depend of the owners of the shops want to really learn themselves.
I didn't have many questions. Really, I only recall asking if I could see how they fit in my pocket, if they had silver too.
Questions that folks generally asked (not about Kahr) when I worked retail at times behind the gun counter at the range:
How do you take it apart to clean it?
Does it come with a spare mag?
Does it come with a case?
Do you have one that hasn't been on display?
I know your asking price, but whats _my_ price?
It comes with free ammo right?
Can I shoot for free today because I bought a gun?
Can you make it look like I traded in a bunch of stuff on the receipt so my ol' lady doesn't get royally pissed at me?
And the question they should have asked is:
Can you show me how to make sure its safe.
Nobody asks that last one.

First off.... wow am I jealous!
I dont have a pm (went with the cm) but some of my questions before I bought involved cost, ergonomics, reliability, break down/cleaning, warranty info, and concealability. Not sure if any of that actually helps you, but those are what I was asking about before I bought my now beloved Kahr.

Would the PM9 work as a pocket pistol?
Biggest question I had after resarching the PM was size...how’s it compare?

How easy is field stripping? Not how simple, how easy. My K9 is physical and ergonomic hell.
How stiff is the slide?
On a tactical reload, can you easily flip the slender little slide release, or is one hand on the slide needed?
How is recoil?
How does the cheese grater feel when shooting?
Would a pinky extension be worthwhile?
Is the short site radius a hinderance?

I got my PM9 after joining this forum and had been waiting months for the night-sighted P380 that I had ordered and paid for as soon as the P380 was released. All of the yahoos on this forum seemed to have a PM9 and I had to have one, too.
I had been wanting a compact Kahr .45 since I got my K9 back in early '98 and after getting my first polymer Kahr, I started looking at the ,45 models. I couldn't find the P45 and PM45 to compare the two, but decided that since I was looking for maximum concealment, I would choose the PM45. I found a good deal on GunBroker for a new Black one with NS and jumped on it. It did take a lot of time at Kahr to get it sorted out, but I love Boomer... or "Franken Boomer".
I've looked at the "C" models and have seen prices for ALL of them for $349.99 each at Shooters here and at the gun show, but I prefer the P and PM models finish and features

I didn't go in dead-set on buying a kahr in particular, just shopping for a subcompact 9 in general. However, after handling a ruger lc9 and not liking it my next question was "do you have a pm9 in stock?" They didn't but one of their gunsmiths in back carried one and was kind enough to let me inspect it. My next questions, in order:
"How do you like it?"
"May I dry-fire it?" (both to the owner)
Then "Can I order a black one with night sights?"
"Do you give a military discount?"
And "How soon will it be here?"
Just holding it and pulling the trigger answered all my other questions ;)

I was looking for a concealed carry gun and a friend recommended a Kahr PM9. At my LGS I saw a CM9 sitting next to the PM9. The only question I asked was why the $200 difference in price? The CM9 came home with me.

Looking for similar ergonomics of a glock 26 but a little smaller/thinner. No nanny state gizmos like the lc9 has, better quality than the pf9 is.....there was only one choice left...the kahr pm9.

Thanks all. Keep those thoughts coming. You are giving me some great points to speak about that I wasn't considering.
Just got off the range after a 4 hour marathon of video making. Didn't get much shooting in though. I ignore the clock and try to stay focused on setting up good video shots. I'm always amazed to see 4 hours gone and only two boxes ammo down range.

My first CCW was and still is a LCP, I still carry it when I need the convenience of just slipping it in a pocket holster and into the pocket. I liked how the 40 seemed to not give up too much when shot out of a 3 inch barrel, my previous .40 was a Star Firestar, and that was a brick. Shot well, but the safety was never tuned quite right and concerned me a bit. Was like carrying a brick. When I learned Kahr had the smallest .40 available that was smaller than most 9's, I was mainly concerned about durability:
Have you had many come back with complaints, or have they been solid pistols in your experience?
Would you have any concern about the durability of the PM40 compared to the all steel MK40?
Once I figured out that that weird magazine follower is recessed FOR A REASON and quit trying to fix something that wasn't broke, I am totally satisfied. Mine has either been gone through or is perfectly matched - you cannot make it hang up partially out of battery, no matter how gently and slowly you ride the slide forward. I find that very comforting in a CCW.

After shooting my brother's CM9 a couple months ago, I started thinking about going to something in 9mm like my G26, to combine the caliber, so to speak. I also wanted something to take the place of my Ruger LCP, and the Kahr came to mind. So, I shot it again at the range a few days ago, and also wanted to see how it felt in my front jeans pocket. For me, the caliber, size for pocketability & ease of slide take down were all important. After researching all these factors, I ordered a CM9 last weekend. Price compared to the PM9 was also a major factor. Good luck on your project, as always, I can't wait to read about it. :)

my bottom line was i wanted (not really needed) a gun that was between the G26 and the LWS in power and in size. there were plenty of .380s to choose from but when i found that the PM9 was considerabley smaller than the G26 and only marginally larger than most .380s i figured i came to my stop.
No questions at all. Knew what I wanted,. This board didn't exist back then.
