:D I just finished my 200 round breakin of my MK9 with absoluty no failures or problems from round one. I shot both the 6 round mag and the 7 round mag with both performing perfectly no failures in either, no nose dives, no failures to load. Everything works perfect and the gun is quite accurate in my 75 year old hands. I will depend on this gun for 100% of my home defense and will also conceal it in my belt holster when needing a gun for belt carry. For cealed carry I have a CM9 which is also 100% dependable. I have a pocket holster for the CM9 and a Silent Thunder belt holster for the MK9. I can't believe how well it conceals on the belt with my 230 lbs. I carry it just in front of my right hip. The MK9 all steel gun is a masterpiece and I love it. :D:D

nice report.IMO kinda offsets some of the negatism that it seems we have picked up here lately, which is definitely not the norm.

Congratulations on the smooth break-in. My MK9 has been a terrific performer as well. It's one gun I'll never sell or trade.

Just wanted to add that after 200 rounds fired I can load the gun by inserting the mag on a closed slide, racking it by hand, riding the slide back closed and it chambers the first round without any problems. I don't have to lock the slide back, insert the mag and hit the slide release lever. I am really liking this MK9 more every day! :D

Throw some wood grips on that MK9. It not only adds to the already nice looking MK9, but really gives a great grip.

I ordered wood grips and Kahr was out of stock......Will have to wait until they get resupplied. Then some slightly used ones came up for sale on this site and I was 1 hour too late to get them before someone else did.

How lucky to have yours have no problems in the first 200 rounds! Question for you: did you detail clean the slide assembly before break in? I didn't and had 9 or 10 errors.

Kahr has a lock on getting their steel guns right from the box.

Here is what I did to both my Kahrs before breakin and you might try the same. I took them apart for cleaning and wiped exposed bearing areas with a clean cloth with some gun oil on it. Then the most important thing I did (in my estimation) is to put auto chassis grease on the springs. Coat both the large and small springs with chasis grease. When new, these springs have a lot of friction when one slides over or into the other one. The grease makes this 100% easier. Then I lightly oiled the slide rails with gun oil and all places where the slide makes contatc with the frame. Just light oil there. None in the striker channel. Thats it, put it back togather and shoot 200 or 300 before any more cleaning.
Now, what did you do and what problems did you have? What are you calling errors?

When I got the gun out of the box, I used a little CLP on a cloth to wipe most everything down - barrel, recoil rod, slide, frame, magazines. I didn't detail strip the striker assembly, but I did take canned air and blow it through the slide through that little hole in it. A little brass came out, but not much, and no liquid like oil or cleaner, so I didn't detail it, thinking that it would have been pretty clean anyway. I put some Hoppes No. 9 on the important bits and actually, I used auto chassis grease on the slide rails, but not the springs. I used a touch of Hoppes on the springs.
THen I shot about 213 through it - 200 Winchester white box and 13 Federal HST +P. (Here's my range report on the break-in: ) I had 7 or 8 light strikes (just a tiny dent in the casing, didn't go off) and one failure to eject.
After the range, the slide assembly has been detailed - hoping it corrects the problem of the light strikes. I'm wishing I would have broken down the slide assembly and cleaned it before I went to the range so I would know for sure if it was a shooter issue (me limp-wristing it or something similar), a gun issue or a gunK issue. But, seeing as how I was suggested in the Newbie forum to simply blow it out, I'll have to go put more reserved ammo through it for a second check.
What do you think?

To answer this question. I have never stripped my MK9 down as far as you have in the pictures. Those brass shavings are coming from the +p ammo. If you shoot normal ammo without the +p the shavings will go away too. I have only stripped mine down to the basic parts. Slide, barrel, lower, mag and recoil spring assembly. Nothing farther than that or never had to blow air through the striker channel.
