I have been looking at ballistics testing on the cartridge above and was wondering if anyone can tell me of accuracy and reliability of these? THANKS

I regularly use 147 g HST in my PM9, it is my daily carry load. I have probably run 100 rounds downrange with no hiccups, great ammo and has been accurate and reliable for me. Ymmv.

I use it all the time in my PM9. I prefer the 124 g but both work great. They are my daily carry round too.

It won't slingshot load in my CM9 and it will lock the slide back during the firing cycle by the wide nose pushing up on the slide lock. It chronoed at 870fps. I use the 124gr Gold Dot.

One of my favorites. The heavier the better for me.
I also had slide lock back with the 147 gr. The 124 gr. and 115 Cor bon no problem

I want the federal HSTs SO bad, but haven't ever seen them in a LGS.
Where do you all get them? Any police bulk box places?

Not sure but I believe lighter loads (115-124gr.) perform better from a ballistics standpoint in short barrels, and might feed more reliably. But its been awhile since ive looked so definitely not sure

I've always preferred heavy bullets and recently started carrying HST's. I get mine from sgammo in 50 round boxes but you gotta catch them in stock and don't hesitate. It's a popular round

The explanation I have heard is that the heavier bullet is slower getting started, providing a little more time for the powder to burn and the gasses to expand before it leaves that short barrel. Therefore, the heavier bullets lose a lower percentage of velocity in the short barrels, whereas the lighter bullets lose lots.

thats why the 45 boys love the 45, big ugly heavy fokker that eventualy gets to its target. Just sayin.
Now the Fotay boys love their caliber as it gets there real quick and gives them more time to drink their coffee.
U 9mm guys enjoy the best of both worlds and we get a donut wth our coffee eve. Just sayin.

Woah! Thank you!!!! I will have to look back into this.... a sales rep at a reputable location told me that and thought it confirmed what I heard from previous research, but wasn't sure. I might be switching my carry load!!
