I hear a lot of people talking about problems with the PM45, FTF's FTE's etc., I've only had a problem with mine one time in the 400-500 rounds I've put through mine and the 200-300 that were put through it by the previous owner. I'm not sure if some of this may be user error. Saturday I put 105 rounds through it while taking my concealed carry permit qualification and had the slide slam forward when I inserted the clip after about 80 rounds. That's the first and only time it's ever done anything except go bang.

Halleluyah, that's just what I want to hear. Guns that just go bang everytime you want it too, sign me up. I'm on the prowl for a PM45 my own self but been hearing of some troubles. Staying tuned in for Mr Wyns' break in. I think we'll be ok........................

ryoung, if you'll notice the one problem I've had was not a FTF FTE or a stovepipe, it was a slide release slip, after 100+ rounds of extremely cheap ammo, that did not repeat. And when it happened it properly chambered a round and I continued firing (acing my CWP qualification by the way). I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm completely confident in the reliability of my firearm.

is more than likely becuase you slammed the magazine in and that will normally pop the slide off the slide stop lever every time. Ican do it every time on my g19 if I want to. I don't. I tend not to slam magazines in my semi's. Just never started that way. If it only happen once even, alot of things could have caused it. slamming, follower this time didn't engage the slide stop hard enough. slide stop spring could be weak ( I doubt it though), dry gun, over more lubed gun. weak recoil springs.
Again one time is IMO sure nothing to worry about, If one wants to call that a malfunction, so be it, to me a malfuntion is no bang thing, jams, FTF stuff like that...
trust me, my g19 is one hell of a shooter but it has light striked on me a few times in thousands of rounds, sometimes failed to lock open on last round, . Don't let any b.s. you, all guns can give issues, Some no doubt more than others..
Some speed shooters like the slammng of the magazine and a instantaneous slide release which results in a loaded gun extremely fast. They might also be replacing little parts more than one who normaly does not slam magazines..

People on gun forums often use "exception as the rule" where their own experiences, good or bad, often define a gun.
Example?
A guy has numerous problems with his Glock. All of the sudden Glocks are "junk" because people see his pictures of a blow-out, and read his story.
A guy has a good experience with a Bryco/Jennings/Jiminez "Saturday Night Special" and all of the sudden those guns are "not bad" in many peoples' opinions since they read where "a guy" has had 3000 rounds of flawless service.
People take their guns very personally for some reason. They defend their decisions to purchase, shoot, and keep their guns and sometimes are offensive/defensive in doing so.
I saw the title of this topic and I already figured what it would read like, and it didn't disappoint.
Bottom line?
Just because you have a great experience with your PM45 does not mean everyone else will too. I can't speak in specifics other than to say I've seen a few guys have to send theirs back for various reasons, but then again so have many PM9 owners such as myself. I still have 100% confidence in Kahr Arms.

I didn't post this to be the exception as the rule guy. It just bugs me that all I hear is how terrible a pistol the PM45 is while a lot of owners have great experiences with them. I just don't think it's fair to have someone new to Kahr come in and see nothing but bad things about a great pistol.

I understand you wanting to post the flipside of the coin when it comes to the PM45 and satisfaction.
Just don't be alarmed if/when someone comes in to post the counterpoint to yours.

I've said very few things in my life that I didn't have someone disagree with me.

is just the nature of a gun forum, or for that matter any product forum. U will always read about the negative stuff first. they are probably republican gun owners and you know they are always negative:D:D:D (now that I got that out of the way). I dnt think the PM45 is a trouble some gun, although we do read about it more, it seems but kahrs sells thousands of these guns so we are at the tip of the negative ice berg.
damn, look at all the 1911 models floating around out there and go on their forums and read. Literally scares the piss out of u. Makes you never want to own one etc. Most all the good 1911 owners will tell you that most need some tweeking before all is right. Some will tell you that once you get away from the 1911 in 45, and into any other caliber, then "look out".
Kahrs are not on the most wanted list for problem guns, or they would have been long gone out of business many years ago. The shooting public would not put up with such poor quality at such a high price. They would have just dissappeared into the sunset.
I own a super G19 which I consider a flawelss gun, and yup i have had a few light strikes out of it over time and a FTE every once in awhile. Does it concern me???Not a bit. Most of the time I have been able to trouble shoot to the person behnd the gun. They are mechanical in that all parts must work exactly as designed in order to make the bang thing happen. Let a little "bugger" get caught in there somewhere and yup,u just got an issue..
When someone makes a better gun than my PM9, I will definitely own it, right now though,,,, I can't find one better..:smash:

As an aside, my M&P's (9 fs and 9c) both slam or go forward and chamber a round when I slam a mag in the pistol. I'm pretty sure they were designed that way, as a lot of folks say the same thing. I kind of like it, as it's one less step and they are ready to rock and roll. I know they are M&Ps and not my Kahr, but pistols do slide home when the mag is slammed in hard...it just happens and I don;t think it's anything to be concerned about.
Just my 2 cents worth.

JOCKO ! OMG ! O NO YOU DID'NT !!!!!!
Ryoung now sits and wonders Why Nancy Pelosi lets her son JOCKO hang out on gun websites.
SAY IT AIN'T SO JOCKO........SAY IT AIN"T SO.......LOL
Your either very brave or insane Mr. Ryoung. Me thinks I'm awfully glad I'm not in your shoes. Anyone even jokes about me being related to that thing liar of the house you mention, that Pelo word that fell out of an ugly tree and they'd be on the fightin side of me. Humor and funny is good, this is just ugly.
I'll say a chant for you.
