View Full Version : P45 Covert
Well, I did it. I love my P45, but wanted it a bit smaller for concealed carry. I've "coverted" a CW9 in the past so I had an idea of what I was doing. Still, I hated to mess this fine weapon up.
Took a wee bit at a time, until the mag just snicked in to place, then went a little further to ensure mag seating. Polished the end up with fine wet/dry paper, and buffed it out on the wheel.
Fits my hand like a glove, and shoots just as well as before.
Sure the warranty is gone, but I bought it used and it's well over 5 years old anyway.

Nicely done. It's gotta be a scary thing to do that but worth it in the end.
Looks great.

Wow, very nice! That's what I w2as thinking about doing for some time since I live in CA and the P-45 is legal but the PM-45 not. Doesn't matter now anyway as I'm out of the market for several months.
Thanks for the compliments fellas!
Shot it today after teaching class. Somehow it's easier to handle now.

Just to much talent on ths forum. We really need two distint sectionson this forum.
One for Idiots, which I am willing to take and start up and
One for Smart guys which I nominate GB6491 to head up
Just sayin
Now how do you get into either group.??? U buy a kahr and you take the slide off and ifu can put it back on correctly and all things work, then u now move frommy group to GB's group. YOU cannot come back into my group. We may be idiots but we also have PRIDE. You see guys like GB and a few orthers couldnever get into our group but yet guys in our group certainly can strive to be in the GB group. Now if this makes sense to you reading this, then u belong in ol jocko IDIOT group and u don;'t even need to do the slide thing. Just sayin

Sweet! I assume that the PM45 mags are being used. Has anyone tried to come up with a flush fit substitute for the PM45 mags?

That looks like it belongs in the regular Kahr product line! http://home.mindspring.com/~justsomeguy/thumbsup.gif
Yep. PM 45 five round mag. Also have a 6 rounded for the PM, and about 5 regular P45 mags. All work well. The finger rest on the 5 rounded cradels my hand, so I like it. A flush fit would be even more compact for pocket carry though. I use my P380 for pocket carry when I can't pack the big gun, which is becoming less and less. Just depends on my required attire for the day.

Nice job. That's the way I feel about my PM45. The 5-round with the plastic base fills my hand, but I would prefer a steel base plate option for maximum CC with minimum show.
With my P40 it sticks out a bit more with the plastic-based 6-round mags, so I got 9mm/.40 steel plate kits for some CCW mags, but I had to add a small plumbing neoprene O-ring to keep the space filled or get "bit"! Ouch!
I carry a 7-round extended grip mag as a reload. A half inch seems to be a big deal when I carry the P40 vs. the PM45. Barrel/slide length is no problem.
With the PM45, I carry the 7-round extended grip mag for a spare. I don't worry about the exposed metal below the grip... no pinch.

Looks great. These days I'm all about concealability. I hardly look at range guns anymore. To this end, I've modified officer size 1911 mags to use in my P45. I wonder if magazines for guns like the Kimber Ultra Carry or the Colt Defender could be modified for use in the PM45 and if they would result in a flush fit?

Yes, but not with the PM size. The flush fit 45 magazine mega thread will answer that. Search for it in the archives, I'm too lazy to do it for you today.
