Purchased an MK9 from Zamboni (great guy) and purchased wood grips from Kahr. The serial number is GCxxxx, so they should fit. I removed a small portion of wood to allow the grips to set into the handle, but the screws do not reach the female threads.

I have heard this is why the GAxxxx serial numbers do not work, but not the GCxxxx. Otherwise, the grips fit great and look awesome. Do they make a longer screw?

Thanks!

They are the same thread as a 1911. So you should be able to get a set of those and file them down to the right length.

I've heard it's just the top or bottom that don't fit. Is that the case. Stock screws work in one spot but too short in the other?

Someone said that the K9 series guns have wood grips and the screws for them are longer. Try those or wait a week and I will try them on my MK9. I have some on order now.

I have been scouring kahrtalk.com and it sounds like a lot of variations to the frame. The bottom screw doesn't clear the wood. The top screw has good clearance, but the female thread is in a portion of the frame that is recessed, so neither screw grabs the thread. It sounds like the K9 screws are longer. I sent an email to Kahr CS to see if they have a reply.

This is another gift, so I am struggling. I may try LGS to see if they have some 1911 screws. The grips are absolutely beautiful and feel great. I just wish they would screw onto the handles.

I got 1911 screws for mine and filed them down to fitt. Work great and lots of styles to chose from.

I measured the thread length between the MK9 original grip screws that come on the Black Grips.

Thread only length: .144 to .145 inch

K9 factory replacement screws ordered from Kahr.

Thread only length: .199

Conclusion: Buy K9 screws for the Wood Grips on your MK9.

I would think any of the wood grips that kahr sells for their K and MK series, the screws would be all the same length of .199.

True, except the wood grips do not include the screws. If you order wood and use your original screws, they are too short. If you order new screws for an MK9 you get the shorter ones. To get the correct length to hold the wood grips on securely order the K9 screws in a set of 4.

They really should be included with the grips as a package.

I've also heard that they sometimes require different length screws top and bottom. Seems to be alot of confusion in what works and what don't.

Exactly, if it is going to require different screws Kahr should know just like Jocko said. They should include them (even if they charge $5) like bawanna said rather than the customer getting a surprise.

The wood grips that I got from Altamont for my J frame each had 3 screws with them to make sure there was one to work for any situation. It is the only responsible thing to do and Kahr fails miserably in not providing screws, in fact an assortment of them, with every set of grips they sell. There is really no excuse for Kahr's behavior and I am ashamed of them.

When I contacted Nathan at Kahr CS, he got the right screws out to me same day. MK9 wood grips require K9 screws. Got them yesterday and they worked great.

they should be in with the grips whenu buy them, charge one for them but don't leave them thinking their original screws will work. Just silly, or at leat put a memo with the grips in the webb site that grips screws are needed and give the order # so one can add that with his grip order. Qite possably , maybe someone might have the K9 screws already, but I seriously doubt that to, unless they are on wooden grips aleady. Kahr is a day late and a dollar short on this wooden grip thing.. Just sayin

I bought new wood grips from Kahr for my MK40 a few months ago. The grips came with a little package of longer screws. Tiny plastic package that you may have overlooked in the packaging.

I'm sure Kahr will send you the correct size if you ask.

Here you go - I think I posted this one before somewhere.

When I ordered the wood grips from Kahr, they did include the correct screws, which are of different lengths for the upper and lower ones.

Mine came with longer screws for my MK9. Like the poster above mentioned, they were in a small bag, 2 short screws and 2 longer screws.
