I received my shipment of the Underwood Ammo this week. I ordered the 9mm 124 +p, 124 +p+, 147+p, and 95 +p in 380. I went to the range and shot it in a variety of guns. Unfortunately I do not have access to the chrono at this time. My review is simply a "seat of the pants" review.
I had my Glock 19, Kahr PM9, Kahr P9, and my P380 as my test guns. I took each of the magazines and loaded 2 rounds of each weight for a total of 6 rounds and kept them in the same order so I would know which round I had just shot. I started out with the 124+p then the 124 +p+ and finally the 147 +p. Out of the Glock all of the rounds were very accurate and I did feel the increase in recoil for the different rounds. The 147 was very stout but not unmanagable by any means. There was only a negligible difference in felt recoil for the two 124 grain rounds. From the PM9 the 147 +p had a lot of recoil and felt the gun torque, not bad but it was a handful. The 124 +p was very soft in comparison and the follow up shot was quick. The 124+p+ had a little more recoil but felt very good from the gun. I then did the same test with the P9, running the same rounds through it. Having a full grip on the gun made the recoil of the 147 much more manageable. Both of the 124's felt about the same. In the end, I really like the 124 +p+ rounds. If I am going to be carrying 2 guns and would need a reload, I think the 124+p+ was the most controllable for me out of the PM9. I will be running the 147's in my Glock for bedside duty.
Regarding the 380, I absolutely LOVED the 95 +p round, it has a distinctive kick but it was very manageable. I did quite a few one handed shots and it was extremely accurate. I shot 40 rounds of it so I need to buy more.
Also I only had 1 malfunction today with the ammo. I was shooting the P9 with the 147 and the magazine unseated itself. No other issues though.
Hopefully soon I will be able to get my hands on a chrono and test velocities.
I am now big fan of the Underwood Ammo.
