spoke w/Ian at Kahr today.....
he said push the slide over the cam paddle while pulling the trigger...yes that worked to get the slide over...had to push real hard...thought I would bend the paddle. Ian said this a "new Feature" of the 380 and it will be included in future owers manuals as a possible thing that can happen until it breaks in..but...it should not lock the slide from racking once back on
was able to reinstall the locking pin by pulling the trigger and lining up the marks....however...now unable to rack the slide at all....unless I pull the trigger...that was all he could do and doesn't know why its doing this
they are sending a pre-paid lable to return the gun....hope it doesn't take long

it's a shame that a $600 gun brakes the first time out?????....maybe the tech/QC just isn't there yet for these small size guns???
haven't gotten the return label yet??? spoke with them at 8:30am today

whether it breaks the first time out or the 10th time it is never a good thing. Evidently something is wrong with your kahr, they will fix it. Give um one good shot at making it right.

Like jocko said, Kahr will take care of it. Unfortunately, getting it back by the end of next week is probably overly optimistic. Three to four weeks is probably more likely. Just have patience. My daughter just bought a pink P380. She put her first 100 rounds through it yesterday. The gun was perfect except for one bad cartridge which was not the guns fault. Once Kahr fixes your P380, I'm sure you will be more than pleased with it.

Sounds like an easy fix. At least you know that they will fix the problem and not send it back saying that it worked fine.

Generally, my returns have come back 7 days after they received the pistol. I never had a "warning", but I was always home for FedEx delivery.
I was trying to check up on one pistol's return after about 6 days, one time and had sent an email requesting info. The next day I got a reply and was trying to answer that and another email from Kahr when the truck showed up for delivery.

thanks jfootin and wynn....they really should at least send an email that the gun is being sent back to you...and in this day and age you should be able to track the repair process on line too..by the serial #
i'll wait and see....at the very least they should tell me what caused the problems I outlined to them in my cover letter(in cse it was user error so I don't repeat it) and what they did to correct it

I doubt that on the repair line stuff. I don't know of to many companies that do that stuff. Kahr willfix the gun and they probably will tell u somethyings they done but certainly they aren't gonna spill their guts out to u either as to what they did. They are under no obligation to do any of that stuff, but other than to get the gun back to you asap and in perfect condition.

Serial numbers also should be guarded as closely as your social security number (for all the good it will do ya).

Well, I know it is not supposed to be used for identification but I can't count the number of government agencies and medical offices who have insisted on me giving my SS # to them.
But tell me, what danger is there in revealing a gun serial number? I have never been clear on this. Would someone possibly go to the police and try to say the gun is theirs and I stole it? Doesn't seem conceivable to me. I have the original case with the serial number on it, and I have the bill of sale. In fact, my FFL is 1/4 mile away and can verify I bought the gun. So what's the big hubbabaloo?

My mk9 was at Kahr 4 times and I called periodically to check on it and when they said it was done or almost done they told me what day they were going to ship it then add 2 days. That's the way it worked for me your results may vary. Bottom line call them.

Happens all the time. We used to have people go into the pawn shop and write down serial numbers on power tools etc and then report it stolen.
They usually don't succeed in making anything happen but you still have to prove it's yours.
It's kind of like when someone steals something from you, you have to prove that you owned it in the first place. Pictures, serial number etc.
Kind of a double edged sword.

had a guy steal my first wife.(dumb fokk) I destroyed everything that ever proved I even knew here. Just sayin:D
Somethings u just don't want back. I seem um ride off together on a fokking honder even. That was a real low blow to, took me some time to get over that to. I think it took 4 no, maybe 6 BUDS. Just sayin.
She had my serial numbers tatooed on her back to. spelled B!TCH.

Jocko, it aint stealin when the other man takes from you a woman that would ride off on the back of a Honda. In these parts, instead of stealing, we call call it a "favor". Hell she prolly washes that thing, all 305cc's of it, dutifully for him every Friday, so it will be clean for the weekend. I always figured, you got a lot of bike with a Honda. In any emergency, you could unfasten the engine and rear swingin arm, mount up a blank hub with a sprocket on it, but no spokes's or wheel, and use it hand held for a chain saw. Thats the Japan mindset... always give a little something in the way of features. Same as the Honda front end, which makes a real nice X-Mas tree ornament...like this:

just an update,
spoke with Ian at Kahr today, since its heen almost 2 weeks that they have it...he said the "gun smith"(I hope they have more than one?) has about a 3 week turn around time..so they should be getting to my gun by next week....
that is not good news for me...to me it means they either have a lot of repairs of broken guns, or need more staff...either way doesn't sound good to me.......
I just hope they fix it for life.....I love that little gun
he also said they will not "speculate" why a part broke? I'm sure they can confirm why a part broke....only state what was replaced....he said sometimes they replace the entire gun?
just keepin y'all up todate....back to shooting my glock 17....1000's of rounds and never a hiccup

Yours sounds like it actually broke and is not out of spec or something. It will be fixed.
(puts the big ottoman cushion on his head, with tassles)
CJBarnak the Magnificent, will go out on a limb, predict the pistols problem is a broken cam spring, but Kahr is doing other things - maybe - a new frame, since they did have a problem. Wouldn't it be nice to get a new frame as well (yah their thing with the FFL but still).
socialwork911
09-25-2012, 08:00 AM
does a new frame mean a new #...how does that get reg.? do I need to take it to my FFL to get it re-reg.? what happens to the old ser. # attached to my name...is that reg. with the FBI?
Bawanna
09-25-2012, 10:12 AM
If you get a new frame it will go directly to your FFL and transfer like a new gun.
Your old serial number will be listed as destroyed and should no longer be attached to you.
