Anybody tried one of these? I'd like to pick up a nice plinking gun and this looked interesting? I was originally interested in a Walther P22, but the Walter guys don't seem to like it and recommended a Ruger sr22, which to me looks like a Walther P22 knock off. The S&W M&P 22 gets good comments here but isn't it made for S&W by Walther and basically a P22?

If you're looking for a nice plinker take a look at the Bersa Thunder .22. It's a well made gun that's accurate and pretty light. The only thing some fault it for is it takes about 500 rds of high velocity ammunition to get it fully broken in. (and a lot of folks on this forum whine about a 200 rd break-in for our Kahrs...snicker.) Bersa has a pretty good forum at bersachat.com.

The NEOS is a good buy. The price is low for the quality you get. It's quite accurate and reliable. You see these on sale for about $225. It has a thin grip and short reach making it a good gun with which to teach kids.

I have a Bersa BT22 as well. They cost more and generally only work well with HV ammo. I use MiniMags and Stingers and these seem to work well. Bersa had a problem with their barrels a while back, so make sure it's recent production. These sell for around $250

There are a slew of 1911 type .22lrs on the market now. I recently picked up a GSG 1911-22 and so far it's been very accurate and reliable. Sig sells the exact same pistol. These cost about $325.

I've owned both the P22 and Mosquito, neither of which worked well enough to keep. Very disappointed in them.

I think I'll stop by Cabella's this weekend and see if they have some of these items.
