A search failed to find a pertinent thread, so I will ask here if anyone knows the direction in which the PM9 front sight should be removed. I bought a used PM9 and will eventually want to remove the front sight to drill it for a brass bead and then replace it in the dovetail. I am inclined to apply Kroil and tap it out from left to right with a brass drift, but real information might be better than a lucky (or unlucky) guess. This and any further advice from someone with experience will be gratefully received. Thanks.

From left to right.

Cut your brass punch so that is has a flat on one side, you'll get a better fit to the sight that way. Sights "usually" come off left to right (as you hold the gun in shooting position), and "usually" go back in right to left. Just an un-written rule in the gun world. There are some European guns... rifles... that are exceptions, maybe other stuff out there...

Kahr sights that I've messed with are not overly tight, but I think some folks have problems anyway. HEAVY vice, and good fitting punch... and tap-tap-tap with a medium small hammer. About like moving a sight on a Ruger MK1 but those are much bigger, easier to whack.

Thanks to both posters for confirming left to right. There certainly is not much meat to work with on the base of the front sight, and CJB's suggestion should help. A padded vice goes with me to the range, and I have faith in Kroil to help things move along. If windage adjustment is needed, perhaps I can open one side the rear notch with a safe edge file and remove the front later at home. The intended finished product is a brass bead front, wide, all-black, rear notch, with everything zeroed for POA at 50 yards with whichever hot 9mm shoots tightest. I am hoping to find something with at least 400 FPE at the muzzle, but I would compromise a bit for accuracy.
