I'm planning on getting a CW45 next month. It seems that the going rate locally in Michigan is between $411- and $425-. I 've heard several peaple getting them for around $355- to $370- . Is $411 to much to pay for the CW45? I see that Bud's Gun Shop has them for $355 but I think whoever I'd have them ship it to would charge a fee and then the cost of shipping on top of that. I was also wondering if some of the latest production models had some of the kinks worked out of them? The slide stop rusting or the spring breaking seems to always be an issue. Any thought s or input would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first Kahr. I usually carry a Glock 30 or 19 but was looking for something different. Something thinner and lighter but definetly reliable.

slide stop not rusting but the magazne releasebutton do on some. It is a steel release button, not stainless and some people's body's seem to make things happen. What springs are breaking??? that is a new one, buy the cw45, u won'[t regret it, it is a super gun,. If u can buy local for $411, just bite the bullet and do it, not like ur gonna go broke and u gonna get the gun now instead of later with far less hassle. also should give u a chance to look the gun over before buying to...

Shipping is included with Bud's price but your spot on in the other areas. A dealer will charge you a transfer fee and tax. Our state collects tax anyhow so no savings there.
I prefer to support local if as in this case the price is relatively close. Support them and they will support you back hopefully if you need them.
I would say the CW45 is probably one of the lesser problematic Kahrs out there. I held one yesterday, actually two, at our local gunshow. One brand new, and Spider Tatoo's new to him used one.
I have a PM45 but found myself kind of liking it a lot. Had I more marbles in my sack, it just might have came to live with me.
Have no fear and get yourself one.
Glad you found us.

I thought I read that the slide stop spring tends to break or work itself loose or something like that. Like I said I don't actually own one yet so I've been doing a lot if research through forums and youtube and whatever else.

nope not so. It has happened before but not something to worry about. If the gu is put together at the factory right then all is well. For sure u should read the propper prepping thread to get alittle insight of some things that u might want to do before shootin the gun. 99% of all kahrs need no prep at all, but again why not get to know ur gun before that first event. Don't take anything for granite, when u can take afew minutes and recheck things over yourself. Might save someheadaches downthe road. What the great one (Bawanna) siad is about deadon. Pay close attention to this guy for not only is a very wise person HE HAS THE "gone" button. Just sayin.
I have since learned that I can get away with sending him a horse head insteadof calling him a horse's ass.. He has 482 of the, he just can't count.:der:

It usually don't break but it can be bent or knocked out of position if you reassemble the gun improperly which won't happen to you cause we're here to help ya.
I'm not nuts about the setup but worked properly it usually doesn't give issues.

I appreiciate all the info. I'm really looking forward to getting one. Any suggestions for sights. I've been looking at Dawson Precision and Trijicon. Do you guys prefer one over the other? I'm not big on the dot and bar combat sights. I 'd rahter have either 3dot or a fiber optic or tritium front and black wide notch rear.

xs has now come out with their big dot sights for the cw series. supernice setup. alot just install the front big dot and leave the back alone. I think they are $120 for the set and u canput the front sight on urself easily in aobut 10 minutes. If u want a fast aqcquisistion sight that is designed for defesne over target accuracy this is a super sight. Althogh some can shoot the big dots extremely accurate. IMO ur cw45is a close up defese gun, train that way, get good at 7 yards, get fast at 7 yards, then IMO screw around at further yardage. any issue u hav ewith anyt kahr these guys here are super. They won't lead u wrong.. Dawson makes super great sights though..

The more you know about the pistol before you get it, the better!

Well, just pulled the trigger on ordering one. $ 411- but it won't be here until November. Can't wait. That will be a birthday present to myself.

Well, that's better than the 11-month wait I had when I ordered(and paid in advance... online) a P380 with night sights... right after they released the first P380's. What really sucked was that when I finally got the P380 home and checked the NS in the dark, the front one was DOA! So, back to the factory the next day, unfired! I did get a low price before the prices went up right after my order.

Why do you have to wait till November. That's insane.

Kahr's aren't typically something that Michigan Police Supply carries so they had to order one from a distributor. I wasn't planning on getting one to mid October anyway. Don 't know why it takes so long.

$400-ish isn't bad, considering supply and demand these days. I paid about that much from a Gunbroker ad run by a LGS, when you include sales tax, but not FFL fee. I think Cheaperthandirt has them for about $360 plus shipping.

I'd probably have a hard time waiting until November if I wanted to get another one. You might want to check galleryofguns dot com (Davidson's).
They show some cw45s in stock and you can get it to show you the "OTD" price which includes tax and the local FFL/xfer charges.
It also comes with an interesting warranty outside of the factory warranty if you go through them.
