So I have decided to get a CW9 but would like to know how much I should pay. I see the MSRP on Kahr's site is $485 but from what I can find people have paid between $400-$325 for a new one. I am fine with that price range but if I want to know if the lower end is realistic or just one of those chance occurrences?

I think it matters where you live if you are buying local, or if you are buying on the web. I paid retail for mine, but those were the going prices near me... I could have driven about an hour for a much lower price, but gas and especially time are worth something to me.

I think you'll be able to find at the lower end if you're willing to wait and search for a bit. The prices fluctuate quite a bit at the dealers I keep an eye on. Several are out of stock currently though.

Good luck with your search!

Ya I forgot to add that I am going to try to buying local. I love the internet but if I'm gonna buy something I want to support a local place if possible.

the questionone needs to askhimself,is how long do I wannt wait to seeif I can find that good price.. 325 seems extremly low, but mid range it seems these guns are available, certanly seems more availalbe for that price from the big boxgun dealers over the small local gun shop. they don'thave that buying power, but again if $25 to50 bucks is gonna be a deal breaker then u might be waiting. buying a gun is not like a hamburger that you canbuy across the street for 50 cents less and then u eatit and its gone. u buy a gun u intend to keep it so paying more to getit NOW for many here is worth it. If I wanted a cw9 and wante dit now, I would pay the $400 even and just move on and shoot it like I stole it and a month from your buy, u will never feel bad about it. But again everyone has a price limit...

Most of the new ones I saw in LGS's around here were in the $450-480 range. I was about ready to pay that when I found a store that sold em for $355.

Well I have some time, I cant get it myself till November (have to be 21 ;) ). The only way to get it sooner would be for my father to buy it and then in November I could title it in my name (I don't love this option but for the right price who cares).

The BATFE might. That is what's known as a straw purchase.
While it doesn't get to the point of Fast & Furious, it COULD raise a flag.
Wait until you're 21 and do it right.

not sure a father can't buy his son a gun...I would think that would pass the smell test. In indiana u cana't buy a handgun until ur 21 but u can have a personal protection permet at age 18, now figue that sh!t out. My son could have carried his dads 9mm back then and been legal. He just couldn't buy one..

like I said its not my preferred option but it could work. I'm in FL so if he did buy one I can "buy" it from him when Im 21 and in FL we don't have to register hand guns if they are bought from an individual. Again I don't plan on doing this but if it was cheep enough the option is there.
I just bought mine last week for $369 at Cabela's in Nebraska.

Thanks for looking, I'm about two hours south of you. I'm going to try and check the shops around here on Saturday and see where they are at price wise.

Picked up a 99% condition CW9 with 250 rounds fired through it today.
Included was the gun (By god it better have been!)
Extra factory mag
Original paperwork & Box
High Noon IWB Holster
$365. I feel bad, almost feel like I robbed the guy. Because it seems like a really good deal to me; considering the gun is pre-worn in and out of the breakin phase, additionally the holster was $40 shipped, the extra mag the same. No taxes, friendly face to face encounter through member of the local (Indiana) gun owners' forum that even helped me avoid FFL fee's and paper trails, like they'd matter anyway.

heh of a good deal..u did well, now shoot it like u stole it. I would still visit the kahr lube chart and if it was mine I would treat it like a new gun whcih to me means a thorough cleaning..

I paid 375 for mine. And it's a good little shooter. I think it's an absolute steal.

A straw purchase is buying a firearm for a person who cannot legally purchase a firearm themselves.
That said, a father/mother/grandfather/grandmother/uncle/aunt/etc buying a firearm for a minor is not considered a straw purchase. True, the child cannot legally purchase a firearm as they are restricted by age. However, they are not restricted due to criminal or mental reasons.
I can't tell you how many folks down here buy their child their first gun with no problems nor questions of straw purchase. Pretty much a rite of passage. Heck, I've already bought my almost 2 year old grandson his first rifle!
