I took my newly acquired BHP in 9mm to the range today to see how it shoots. I also brought along my Sig P228 and my Kahr CW9. You might think the little Kahr would be intimidated by the other two high rollers. Not so. She did just fine. I continue to be impressed by the Kahr trigger and its just simply easy to shoot and hit where you want to hit. Can't ask for much better than that.
The Browning functioned great and is a sweet pointing pistol. But that trigger has got to have some work. Gritty and too heavy. I will have that fixed and then it will be a sweet shooter. I love the classic looks and the ergos. One of my favorites.
The P228 is a KB dated W. Germany Sig. It is just a wonderful pistol to shoot. It does everthing well. It has the older contrast sights which I prefer and it holds on target very well. If I have a complaint with the Sig, it is the long reset on the trigger. Everything else I love . Here's a picture of the group. :D

I too have a BHP and a cw9. Love them both. Yes the bhp does need some trigger work. Hopefully I can send mine out early next year. I've spent a little too much money on gun STUFF and have to chill out for a while. My wife and kids all have bdays in sept and oct, then comes xmas. I hate this time of year.....

I have some cash coming shortly and at least some of it will be used to fix that heavy trigger pull. :D
High Power triggers are... nothing like you'd think. But the guns shoot well in spite of it.
You'll never get a really good HP trigger, just an acceptable one, unless someone in the aftermarket has reworked the geometry of the parts some (I haven't checked lately).
Taking out the magazine disconnect safety helps a whole lot.
I think EGW makes a "super hard" HP sear - if its still offered, thats the one to get. Drop it in, remove the mag safety and call it done. There is not a whole lot to be done on the hammer... unfortunately. The angle of the mating pieces is not conducive to a great trigger.

From one East North Carolinian to another, what brand is the grip on your Kahr? I've just put a Hogue Handall Jr., on my CW9. Tore a U shaped bit, out of the front of it!!!! Even so, the grip feels much better. A little larger and much smoother. I like!
I really, really like the Kahr, but as a range gun, it doesn't shoot with my longer barreled pistols. I know, it isn't suppose to. I'll give it a few more sessions, but there may be an accuracy problem with my Kahr CW9?
I have a Browning Hi-Power, that is a safe queen. Decent trigger, even with the mag safety.
I have a FEG Hi-Power clone, with the mag safety removed. When compared to some 1911s, it's not a great trigger. When compared to a lot of BHPs, it is a great trigger. Also, taking some tension off the sear spring, makes a diference. Unless you really know what you are doing and you have the correct jigs, DON'T stone the sear and hammer. Cylinder & Slide make HP sear and hammer "sets". They can be purchased direct from Cylinder & Slide, or Midway USA, or Brownell's. There may be other places to purchase them?

Where are you in EC? I live close to Greenville. The grip on the Kahr is a Uncle Mike's that I removed from another pistol I bought used. I had tried the bicycle inner tube and it worked pretty darn good. But this one is perfect for my hand. I guess they are still available but haven't looked. What distance are you shooting your Kahr at? I can put a magazine inside a 3" stick on target from the 7yd line pretty consistently with mine. I am very satisfied with that.
Thanks for the tips on the BHP trigger. It's not horrible as it is, but I do see myself pulling groups to the left as it is now. I will definately have someone look at pulling the mag disconnect out.

I live in Deep Run. Deep Run is 14 miles south of Kinston, on Hwy. 11. I'm 45 minutes from Greenville.
I put 36 rounds through the Kahr this morning. The results were a lot better. Especially the last magazine full. I suppose I'm getting more acclimated to the long trigger pull. I moved up to 21 feet. Previous shooting was done at 36 feet. I don't think I'll ever be able to have a 7 round, 3 inch group, with my CW9!
I'll look for a Uncle Mike grip. Thanks for the tip.
There is a ton of information on the web about the Hi-Power. If you feel like trusting a stranger, I'll show you how to remove the magazine safety. Or, remove it for you. I was a bit slow to come around to thinking this, but most strangers are friends I haven't met yet.
When I came in from shooting a few minutes ago, the wife asked if I were satisfied with the Kahr. I told her that I was VERY satisfied with it .I've changed the striker spring to a 5 lb. striker spring. The previous owner must have already changed it, because I can't tell any difference in the trigger pull, between the striker springs. I also took some of the tension off the trigger return spring.

Hey, thanks for the offer on the Hi Power but I have some friends in the gunsmithing business. I'll just run it over to one of them. I am glad you are liking your Kahr better. I am really fond of mine. Have fun with it. :)
