I bought a used Kahr P380, and after cleaning it throughly i took it to the range and shot 80 rounds of Remmington UMC ammuntion. The gun worked fine, however on three occassions the slide didnt lock back after the last round. Also, a few times shell casings hit me in the face. Can anyone please tell me whats causing this?

As many will tell you, the "forehead dotting" should go away. It is more common with PM45s. From my own experiences, you may have a slide lock pin that is out of spec or you may have a loose slide pin spring. Try tightening the spring first and maybe order a new pin later. Mine locked back prematurely.

I would order a new set of recoil springs and start from their. shells hittingur head, isnot uncommon in semi's so IMO, just live with it. maybe adjust ur stance, grip or change ammo to see if that helps...

Also wanted to add that this gun was made in April 09, starting with serial #RA. Being that this is an older model, Im wondering if I need to upgrade any parts?

Since it is a used gun, I would go with what itsthelaw and jocko suggested. Replace the recoil springs and the slide lock spring. This will most likely take care of the problem.

Just FYI the magazine was redesigned at some point. I had some of the new ones and some of the old ones. May want to try a newer mag before you start spening more money on it

I was having same problem. Kahr sent me new followers for 2 magazines. No change. What I have observed is it is probably my thumb position on the left side of the slide causing the problem. I am right handed. My normal "thumbs forward " grip that I shoot with on the majority of my pistols has my thumbs extended forward. The P380, being a small gun in my slightly larger than normal hands, has the positon of the slide release in the "perfect"(?) spot for my right hand thumb to unconciously apply pressure to the slide stop, keeping it from engaging, thus causing the failure to lock open. I conciously kept the thumb away from the slide stop lever, and the problem went away. Try shooting with your left hand as a test as well. No thumb interference. Don't limp wrist it either.
