When putting the Hogue Handall Jr. on my CW9, I managed to tear the grip slide. The Hogue has small side swells that really feels good. I don't like the finger "groove". Overall, it improved the feel of the pistol so much, that I'm looking at other solutions.

I found a LimbSaver that I'm trying. It's for a Kahr 45. It's the SMALL FULL size. The grip slide is a bit too long and it's not angled correctly for the CW9 grip. I used hairspray to help lubricate the grip for installation. I manuevered the grip slide to suit me, then trimmed the bottom with a pair of scissors. The cuts are rough and I'll smooth them out later. The roughness of the grip is gone. But, boy it feels much larger than the Hogue!

From handling the pistol, I think I may have to remove the top part of the grip slide, that goes under the "beavertail". This shows up well in pictures 2 and 3. Leaving it may make my hand sore. I'll shoot it before removing it, or making any more adjustments.

I did the same thing for my CW40, no more sore hand.

Have you shot it since you installed the limb saver? I have the Hogue on my CW9 and love it compared to the grip with out it.

No, I haven't shot it yet. I'm a bit inconvenienced by a cold, the last couple of days. I might slip off this afternoon and run a few rounds through it. If I do, I'll report back. When feeling poorly, I'd rather go shooting, than mow grass!

I ran 29 rounds through it this afternoon. 15 with the LimbSaver on and 14 with it removed.

Th extra material under the beavertail proved not to be a problem. It did not bother the web of my hand. The felt recoil was definitely less.

But, the LimbSaver made the grip feel large. It really adds to the thickness, fore and aft. It made the grip feel kind of Glock like. For me, it took away the original attraction of the Kahr grip, which is the thinness of it.

I fired 14 rounds with the LimbSaver off. There was more felt recoil. But, the Kahr CW9 is a soft shooter anyway. The size of the grip felt immensely better. The big drawback is the indentations left in my hand. The indentations come from what someone, maybe jocko, calls the "cheese graters".

So, for my hand, I'll next try an innertube, or maybe sand down the edges of the ridges some. I don't want to do anything that would hurt the resale value.

Maybe I'll have to try one out. I find that the grip is a bit too small for me so it might work out better. That's the main reason why I bought the Hogue. Making the grip longer from front to back sounds good as well because I feel like the trigger is slightly too close. Where did you pick that up from?

I bought the LimbSaver from Neuse Sport Shop, in Kinston, NC. It's the "SMALL FULL" size. It will definitely make the grip larger.

My wife has that very grip on her CW45. It makes the grip larger, but softens the feel as well. Neuse Sports, don't they also have a shop in Newport? I'm trying to remember the name of the LGS I used to do business with down there.

The Neuse Sports Shop is a well known local (Kinston, NC) place for outdoor equipment. They have a reputation for fair firearm prices. Not exactly cheap, but not outrageous either. They are locally owned and they are not part of a chain. It is a popular stopping place for beach travellers, coming from Raleigh and other points west, on Hwy. 70. They carry a lot of boat stuff and a large selection of clothing. King's restaurant is next door.

There use to be a LGS in Newport, known as Ed's Gun Shop. It is now known as Ray's. I gather that Ed sold his Newport operation to Ray. Ed has another NC location in Vass. Vass is near Southern Pines. Ed has a lot of loyal customers who go out of their way to deal with his shop.

You can make that grip look a lot better using a single edge razor blade to make the cuts without harming the original grip.

My wife's CW9 originanal grip was pretty rough on her hands so I cut a piece from an old extra thick puncture proof 20 inch bicycle inner tube. It went on like a sock lubed with soap and has stayed in place well. We both like the bigger size it gave it and the cushion from the recoil. I did it mainly to see if we should buy one made for it, however, this one fills the bill and can't beat the price.
Enjoy your Kahr!:)

Thanks, I couldn't remember who I used to deal with, and knew that I had heard of Neuse Sports before just couldn't remember where. Have you ever dealt with Hardesty's in Morehead City?

It was not the recoil, I do not like the 'cheese-grater' grips so I tried some things learned from this forum. Hand-all Jr. fit my PM9 well....at first. It begand to slide up and down.
Tried Talon Grips and they did the job however oil seeped through the seam on the ride side and the glue came unstuck.
I now use and highly recommend Super Glue E-Z Fuse Tape wrapped around the grip. I put mine right over the Talon Grips for added cheese-proofing. Very durable, strong (it says it can be used as an emergency fan belt?!) and most importantly, No Sticky Residue. I found it at an AutoZone parts store.

What sort of texture does that tape have? Is it rubbery? Cloth? Smooth plastic?

Smooth and slightly rubbery texture, with just a hint of spring.....and without adhesives, no sticky residue or loss of adhesion.

I have been in their shop, but I didn't purchase anything. Hardesty's is a prominent vendor at some of the S&D gun shows. S&D gun shows take place in the smaller towns in eastern NC. The shows are presently scheduled for Jacksonville, New Bern, Goldsboro, Greenville and Wilmington. Wilmington isn't exactly a smaller town. I don't attend the Wilmington shows, as Wilmington is an hour and a half away. Sherwood Caraway is the promoter. He has 2 or 3 shows per month. Wilson and Kinston have been on past schedules. The Hardesty's have a fairly large assortment of firearms at the shows they attend. I always see them at New Bern. Their prices are competitive. Nice and friendly folks.

I confess to liking gun shows. I'm like a kid in a candy shop. I just ignore the jerky, china, handbags, jewelry, raffles and most of the knifes. Not all the knifes. I'm now ending my long reply to a simple question!

No worries about the reply. One of my fellow Marines used to do business with Hardesty's, and their prices were a little high, but not bad. Their service used to be pretty mediocre as well, but then again they were the only folks around until Newport opened up. Do they still hold gun shows in the Shriners building? That was the last time I went to one there, it was tiny and no selection, right there off of Hwy 70.

I've used that Silicone "Miracle" tape to build up a filler between the metal base and the pistol grip on 1911 magazine test for my SA Champion. I just wrapped it evenly around the mag until I got the thickness I wanted and then trimmed the tape to fit with a razor blade.
I did this on an officer's 6-rounder and it was compact enough, but did not lock the slide back on empty, which is important to me for CC. It did have the adapter kit for 7-round capacity, too.

The New Bern show is now held at the Craven County Fairgrounds. Off of 70.

Ray's, what was once Ed's, in Newport, has better prices than Hardesty's. I did buy a Ruger Single Six from Ray's, at the Greenville show, some months ago. Well, I guess it was last year.
