My state isn't the best for them but what are some schools ( reputable and knowledgeably of course) in and around the Massachusetts area?

Ask the NRA where the best schools are in your area, they'll know better than anyone else.

I know there are a lot of good schools where I live. I would contact any of the major schools (Gunsite, US Shooting Academy, ect) I am sure they could recommened some instructors in your area. I am currently enrolled in a school that is 500 miles from me to have a night shoot and Tactical 2 in October. Good luck.

Gabe Suarez (http://www.suarezinternationalstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=11)has a very practical gun course. My wife and I attended and we were very pleased. We are new to concealed carry.

Hey thanks for the info I don't use this everyday. I'm looking for tactical school becuase I'm looking into trying to get into a PMC or a PSC. So I'm looking for that level of training if possible. Any idea where I can find those?

Here are some good resources in MA that might lead you to the training you seek:

South central MA - Very active sportsman's club (basic training, IPSC practice, many experts to help you out and answer your questions, etc.)
Hopkinton Sportsmen's Association: Home (http://www.hsasports.com)

The Official Firearms Association of Massachusetts
Gun Owners' Action League (http://www.goal.org)

The GOAL Foundation Course Descriptions

I will be taking a class in the middle of October from Rochester Personal Defense - SafeInRochester.com, Self Defense Classes, Firearms Training in Rochester New York (http://safeinrochester.com/index.html) They hold various classes, the one I'm taking has a 1/2 day lecture and a day at the range tailored to upgrading a permit from restricted to hunting and range to a concealed permit for personal protection. He provides the class in many areas of NY. I can't wait.

If you don't mind traveling to Nevada, a 4 day defensive handgun course at Front Sight should bring you up to a level notably higher than where you are now. I attend two courses a year at Front Sight.....several of us from work go together in the spring and fall when the weather is pretty nice. The instructors are very focused and dedicated. I don't much worry about the politics surrounding the owner (if you are in to that) since he doesn't teach any classes. ;)

+1, I attended Front Sight in September and it was excellent training, top notch instructors and I learned a lot. I would highly recommend.

You should not have to travel out of state. I bet some shooting ranges have classes that you are not aware of.

There are several "advanced" gun training programs here in the Raleigh, NC area. One is sponsored by a local shooting range, and the other is not.

They are:

1) Untitled Normal Page (http://www.fta-ccw.com/Advanced.htm)

2) First Step (http://www.pdhsc.com/first_step.htm)

3) Shoot to Live (http://shoot2live.com/)
