Guys
I ordered a 8rd mag from midway for my cw9. It will not seat unless the slide is locked back. I can't load it on a closed slide. Is this normal? The 7rd mag that came with the gun dosen't do that.????

if itrs a kahr mag, then it is a bad mag. if it is an aftermarket mag, then it is still a bad mag. you might check to see if the bottom floor plate on that bad magazine is just to tight a fit agasinst the bottom of the mag well...notmuch u can do about it if it is..

You may want to check to see if the bottom of the grip or the top of the 8 round mag has any mold flash. There may be just enough to interfere with the seating of the 8 round mag with the breach closed.
Mine fits really tight at the front and I have to make sure that I "press" it in so that it locks. (Really need to take a bit off the front of the mag base where it contacts the grip.)

What magazine did you get? Th K920G has an extended grip that might not be fitting flush with the bottom of the grip... or the slot in the magazine tube might need a minute bit of filing to smooth the top of the slot... maybe just a bit of real fine sanding there.
The CW uses the same mags as my K9 and here are some pix:

it looks like its the k920g. I should'nt have to file or sand a mag that cost me over $30. I don't mine doing it , but if it dosen't solve the problem the factory is not going to take it back because I tampered with it. Pain in the butt either way..

Can't hurt to take it apart and check to be sure it is assembled correctly before you inconvenience yourself by sending it back.
Just a thought . . .

Of all 6 extended mags I got from Kahr, I had the same problem. I just ended sanding the top of the extensions a millimeter or two, they work just fine now.

I agree. Not being able to load it on "a closed slide" like you said could be a real issue, but it could just be some interference with the plastic base plate on the bottom of the grip.
After that, if everything looks fine, and all it takes is a good smack to seat it, then you could fix it yourself pretty easy.
My two K920G mags need to be slammed home to seat correctly on my CW9 and I've heard others say the same about theirs. All you need to do is skim a little off the top of the plastic base with some wet fine grit sandpaper to have it fit your gun perfectly, or you could chance Kahr sending you another one that may have the same issue, or have a big gap (with too much slop). I would rather do a light sanding.

Take the base off the magazine, take the spring and the follower out and then try to insert the magazine tube into the magwell with the slide forward until it locks in. You can make a mark with a Sharpie or pencil to show how low the grip reaches on the tube, and then see if the base covers that mark to verify that a little material needs removal on the top of the magazine base. It ain't rocket science!

When I picked up my first kahr , a cw9 it came with a plane jane K920 mmag as a second mag. It would great in it and the cm9 i bought soon after. It get used more than ether stock mag as it is used with both pistol.
Does it seem that the problems allways happen with mags that have the extended finger grip bottoms on them. Mine with no follower do have a solid 1/16" of slop in them. All goes away with the follower in place and presets tight.

I bought a bunch of new Checkmate 8-round SS mags for my SA Champion. The plastic based ones insert fully loaded with the slide forward for 8+1, but the steel-based ones don't... at least not without a LOT of effort... not good for self-defense reloads! I discovered this at the range, which is why a lot of range time is good for getting familiar with your pistol(s).
