I bought a CM40 recently, I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I have been doing some and reading up on it. I've seen quite a few posts about the feed ramp breaking the magazine follower. Is this something that has been corrected at Kahr by now or should I polish it off before I go and shoot it? It looks fairly smooth and polished already, but then again I've never seen one that wasn't.

Welcome to the forum. All I would recommend is go to the forum section, look for the new member section, and look at the proper prep thread and lube thread. Then go out and enjoy it at the range.

Then if there is some issue just come back and the good folks here will be glad to help you out if you need anythIng.

Enjoy.

yup, damn thing just broke, 100 rounds in. I had a few rounds that failed to feed properly after the follower broke, is the broken follower the likely culprit or should I try to switch ammo?

I would call kahr and talk to jay and get his feedback. they will send u a new follower to be sure, and if it breaks, u have already established contact with kahr and I would think then the entire gun shold go back on their dime. doucument ur phone call and file it away etc for future,if needed.

It might be a rare occurance and just soething that heppened. IMO, it is probalby not but a new follower will soon duplicate if u have a true issue. It is not the result of an unpolished feed ramp. Break one IMO, try anutter, break two, the gun needs to go back, a follower can break and u not know it and it might function for awhile OK but it will in time let u down. It should not be that way.

Oh I think kahr knows when a caller calls them about a broken follower, they never seem to contest it either. Now they ar enot noted for sendingone ahalf dozen followers either but one shouldhave a few on hand so that if one reaks he has a fast backup and then send the broken one back to kahr etc. I would tolerate maybe a couple brokenfollowers and thebn after that it would go backto kahr for sumpin is not right with the gun and it does seem to be more prefelantin the 40 cal kahrs more than any other. I had been told before that those little fotays have such a violent explosion when the gun goes bang that things that might happen with a 9 or the ***** 45's, doesnt compare to the fotay going bang. There could be some truth to that to.

I'll be calling them tomorrow to see if i can get them to send some new followers. Now, I have a buddy that per his job, can duplicate things in metal. I asked him if it were possible for him to do so with one of these magazine followers, and he said that it would. He then asked what kind of metal i'd want for it, whether it be aluminum, hardened steel, normal steel, titanium, unobtanium etc...any input as for whether or not this is a good idea, and which metals should be used/avoided?
