Guys,

A film producer named Kris Koenig is trying to make a new documentary on 2A issues, specifically demonstrating the linkage to the civil rights community. A trailer for the film can be found here:

Kris also posts on CalGuns and you can see him talking about it here:

The Second Amendment Foundation has endorsed his film; there is a link to it off their main home page (upper right hand corner).

An example of some old work he did is here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5ut6yPrObw

where he documented returning WWII veterans using firearms in 1946 to prevent voter fraud and a tyrannical/corrupt local government who had sequestered themselves inside a fortified position to "count" the votes - in private.

So here's the kicker: He needs funding to get this off the ground, and there are only 2 days left before the deadline. I just pledged. You can pledge as little as $1. Your card won't get charged unless the minimum funding threshold to proceed is met. If you want to support this film, you need to sign up for a free Kickstart account, but Amazon handles the billing process - the filmmaker and Kickstart never see your credit card.

Look we're always complaining about negative media coverage. Here's our chance to do something about it. Koenig's work has been shown on PBS. I also read that he won an Oscar for his work on Waco.

I think this is worthy of support. A success anywhere helps us all, and a loss anywhere hurts us all. Check out the short video and see if you agree.

Ray,
Why is it always up to the individual gun owners to support these projects? Where is the NRA, and corporate America? This film should be supported by Kahr Arms, Colt, S&W, Strum Ruger, Remington, Winchester and others. I'll do my part, but my pockets aren't nearly as deep as their pockets.

Pledged.
I have already backed other projects on Kickstarter, so it was easy. Kickstarter is pretty cool.

Maybe he already got funding from some manufacturers, because he's already past $60k.

Good question muggsy, but I don't have a good answer for ya.

And LorenzoB, I don't think he got corporate funding. You can see a break-out on the Kickstarter site: he only got 2 backers at $5K, 6 at $1K, and all the rest came from small-timers like us that just gave what they could.

But GOOD NEWS:

The funding goals were met! So the video will be produced.

Thanks to everyone who gave. But even if you did not give, the real contribution you can make is to "talk up" the film once it comes out. The more eyeballs we can steer to the video, the more gun-friendly and understanding our culture will be. Every bit helps, and I'm confident that this film will help play a role. So let folks know - once it's done.

And thanks again.

I was thinking about the corporate sponsor thing. It would probably be better if they didn't sponsor. Then anti-2A people couldn't say "this documentary is propaganda from big business gun companies".

They'll say it anyway. Do you think that the left is above lying?
