I just bought a CM9 and I haven't taken it to the range yet because I can't operate the darn slide release! Is mine defective or are they all hard to operate? Is there some kind of trick to making it work or what???? Thanks in advance for any advice!

u didn't tell us uch here. Have u taken it out of the gun and now can' get it back?? or is it hard to use the release to release the slide??
If its #2. take the magazine out of the gun and try it. it should be easier. Did u read the manual, ???did u read the new member threadon this forum???did u review the kahr lube chart??? did u read the propper prepping of ur new kahr on the kahr tech secion???

By design, with an empty magazine in the pistol, the follower pushes up on the slide lock to engage it when the magazine is empty. With NO magazine, or with a loaded magazine inserted fully... one round to full... the slide lock is very easy to release... again, by design.
Watch the Kahr take down video, too.

I was going to post but don't have to - LOL!
All I would add is my MK40 Elite loosened up at 200 rounds.
And turned glassy and 100% reliable at 400.
It's still got the hardest to rack slide of any of my handguns.

Thanks! After reading all of these recommendations, I decided that i either needed to take the empty mag out or inseet loaded mag! it is much easier now and I hope it will get easier still with use! Thanks again everyone!

You can also just pull the slide back far enough to use the release with a lot less force.
