I bought my first Kahr off Gb, a CM9. Comes from first owner who says he fired approx 500 rounds. Sounds like the "break in period" has passed. Reading several of the helpful sticky's I will check if the magazine at hitting the slide stop. My biggest fear is jams. I will see if the magazine modification is necessary or not. I bought a Don Hume 715 Holster and plan to make this my carry weapon. Will take it to the range then decide whether to add a CT laser. If I want to add a laser will have PJ Holster make me a Kydex with C belt hook. I'm really hoping my first range outing goes well and I can be confident with this piece. I do want to give the gun every chance to succeed. Any other tips you can see as helpful other then a good cleaning now that the break in period has passed? I have learned so much about my Smith's from the S&W forum and am very glad to have this resource for my Kahr.

You are on the right path. The test I used on any gun was to rack the slide very slowly. POINT THE GUN IN A SAFE DIRECTION WHEN TESTING AND LOADING. If the round chambered without any hangups, I felt I was good to go. I did sand the follower groove very slightly and that was a huge improvement. Once the followers were removed from the mags it took less than five minutes using 600 grit wrapped around a pencil to do all three mags. I took very little material off the followers, maybe half of what the pics in the thread show. Make sure you put the mag springs back in correctly. I can now chamber the first round by slowly letting the slide return into battery. There is a lot of rap on Kahr as to why they do not do this fix themselves. I believe Kahr is covering their ass by more or less forcing you to use the slide lock/release lever to maybe insure a measure of safety and insuring the round is actually fully chambered.

I don't believe that Kahr is covering its ass. I believe that Kahr is giving idiots who don't know how to properly rack a slide a fool proof method of chambering a round. Works every time it's tried.

Unless it's a .45 WITHOUT the bevel on the lower leading edge of the breech face... the stripper. Then it takes a full rack to the rear to let the "stripper" get behind the top cartridge rim, instead on resting on top of it!
