You gotta do something about those flyers off to the bottom right! :)

It's known as "CTJ"

"Consistent Trigger Jerk" :o

I'm gonna give you a gold star for even being able to see the target at 50 yards!

Thanks...I adjust the dot size to its smallest (2 MOA) and it still totally covers that orange target at 50.

I couldn't do that at 50 yards with a sniper rifle. That gun must be magical or something, or perhaps your the wizard of accuracy?

My 41 will do close to that at 25, never tried much beyond yet but I will one day. Course it has only iron sights so the weak link is sitting behind the gun usually with coffee jitters. Need to work on my consistent trigger jerk, I kind of like the sound of that.

Walmart ammo just doesn't group like that for me. My store must not have the good stuff... :)

One of the main reasons why I took the red dot off my single six! Course I never really shot it to 50 yards. (Man's got to know his limitations):86:

Alphonse, sometimes it's not the ammo or the gun. :19:

Nice shooting.
You just have to love a big Smith revolver.

thanks

I cheated with this basic pistol rest propped up on my handgun case.

Nice shooting, nice pistol! 50 yards might as well be a mile to me with a pistol. I don't think I can do that good of a group with a hole punch.

I bet you'd be surprised.

Just six months ago I'd never even tried to shoot accurately out to 25 yds.

With a good gun, 50 yd silhouettes can be a lot of fun!

I can shoot my 10-22 to 50 yards, and get pretty good groups, with a 3x9 scope on it. :) I do get frustrated with my vision, mostly because when younger I had fantastic eyes and really liked shooting iron sights.

Now, I hardly want to shoot my rifles with iron sights because I can hit so little with them anymore beyond 25 yards. The PM9 sights are something that are certainly 10 yards or less for me. Rather than be frustrated or not shoot them, I should probably just invest in some nice optics for my rifles that don't have them. Surprisingly, I can still hit clays pretty well on a good day.

I have a couple of carbines with red dots on them and would have a hard time getting groups like that with the rifles at 50 yards. As you said, the dot is as big as the target.

I don't have any pistols with optics mounted on them. But, part of my ongoing wheel gun saga is that I did purchase a 4" 686 on GB yesterday. So, we'll see what I can hit with that after it gets here. Your posts are making me look forward to it even more.

One more thing, I grew up in Texas and that picture reminded me of the vegetation down there. Looks pretty good!

congrats, Alfonse!

I sold some stuff and hustled the money to buy that MatchDot.

Being able to adjust the size of the dot seems to make a huge difference to me.

My Primary Arms micro dot is, I think, a 4 MOA.

The MatchDot can be reduced to a 2 MOA.

With a little practice starting at 25 yds, you'd be surprised how accurate one can get with a 2 MOA dot!

I know I'M surprised! :)

Great shootin!

Man I love my 686 no-dash. I don't know which I'm most accurate with, my 686 or my 642. But all I know is my 2 large Smith's are my most accurate pistols hands down. Gotta love em.

Did you get a 686 6 shooter or a 686 7 shooter?

An older one, a -3, six shooter. Supposed to not have been fired much. I'll know more in a week or so.
