I took my new cm40 to the range today and put 250 rounds of Federal through it. Not one hiccup whatsoever! The little gun was spot on accurate, recoil was very manageable and follow up shots were a breeze. I was torn between the 9 and the 40 but I figured if I got the 40 and didn't like it, I could sell it or trade it for the 9, but I was very, very well pleased with it on all accounts so she's a keeper!

Excellent, it's always good to hear that someone is happy with their new firearm:)

The only downside to the .40 is the cost of the ammunition. You can bring that cost in line by rolling your own. The .40 is a great defensive round if you can handle the snappy recoil. Sounds like you're happy.

Do you ever shop SGAmmo.com? I am done buying ammo for a while, but last year when I was shopping it was possible to just about match 9mm prices buying "fotay" from them. Admittedly, that was with JHP. I don't think cheap 9mm FMJ prices can beat. But, at twenty seven cents a round, it is easiest for me just to practice with what I carry.
Haven't shopped much recently, but (buying in case lot quantities) I'll bet I could get close to 9mm JHP with "fotay" JHP. ;)
Then again, maybe not. The stuff I shoot is now at least thirty three cents a round there. http://www.sgammo.com/product/winchester/500rd-40-cal-winchester-ranger-135gr-jhp-hollow-point-ammo-zq4368
Still, decent 9mm JHP is about thirty cents a round. That's only about 10% more. http://www.sgammo.com/product/federal/1000-rd-case-9mm-luger-federal-classic-hi-shok-115-grain-jhp-hollow-point-9bp
Whatever. It's hard to justify this stuff to my wife too.
That said, I do share Mr. vlazlo's enthusiasm for the PM40.

those are some great prices for jhp ammo... need to restock some... thanx
as for the 40cal... that must be alot of fun... that's one of the reason why i enjoy shooting the cm9 so much is because of the snappy recoil... fun range gun... lol

My pleasure!
But, it doesn't hurt that these people have been very good to deal with.
It is easy to recommend them. :)
Oh, and "Amen, brother!" on the fun of shooting "fotay".

I made several orders last week... one from www.TargetSportsUSA.com. Here's one with .40 ammo:
TSRA40BA -BULK Winchester Ranger 40 S&W 165 Grain Bonded Jacketed Hollow Point Ammunition-Winchester Ranger 40 S&W 165 Grain Bonded Jacketed Hollow Point Case of 500 (10 Boxes of 50) 1 $229.99 $40.09 $189.90
TSPP-R4.0-BULK Prvi Partizan 40 S&W 180 Grain Total Metal Jacket Ammunition-Prvi Partizan Ammunition 40 S&W 180 Grain Total Metal Jacket Case of 1000 (20 Boxes of 50) 1 $399.99 $100.19 $299.80
Order Notes:
Packages may be left at the front door, weather permitting.
SubTotal:
$489.70 Shipping Insurance: $7.10
Shipping: FREE SHIPPING
Tax: $0.00
Total: $496.80
I needed some more FMJ and the Winchester Ranger Bonded looked like a good deal... the middle amounts are the discounts from "regular prices" and shipping is free on cases and half-cases as posted. I did choose the optional shipping insurance!
I looked at SGA several times and couldn't find the deal I was looking for, though I have bought a lot of ammo from them. I DO look there first!
I video'ed firing that ammo in my Mag-na-ported P40, but I haven't gotten around to figuring if I can get freeze frames on my Ubuntu-powered PC.
Wynn:)
